Ursula had made plans with a friend to meet at the new ice cream place in Diagon Alley. As of yet, Ursula had never been and she had to admit it sounded interesting. Exotic desserts one could eat in the day time? Cold ones at that? Yes, she very much wanted to take a trip and sample it for herself but unfortunately, her friend fell ill at the last minute and had to cancel. At first she was disappointed, she would have to make plans for another day. Then she decided no, no she didn't have to change her plans for the day, she could go ahead anyway and try it out. To avoid going alone, she momentarily considered taking Sirius but then decided that was a hassle she had no desire to bother with, she could go alone and treat herself.

So she did. A short trip later and she was sat in Fudge & Son Desserterie, looking over a menu rather at a loss at what to get. There were so many choices, she was overwhelmed! Finally, she decided and before long, the tasty treat arrived. She picked up her spoon and was about to go in for her first taste when some clumsy oaf knocked into her table which knocked her elbow and consequently sent her spoon hurtling to the floor. Her heart sank as she observed her fallen spoon, disappointed that her plans for dessert domination had been abruptly put on hold.

Alex had been intending on trying out this ice cream place. He was sure it would be quite delicious. He had not been wrong, he supposed, as he enjoyed his cold treat. Soon enough, he was done his dessert and readied himself to go. As he stood up, the blondes eyes widened a little as a child ran past him, bumping his legs enough to make him fall back against the table. Turning as quick as he could, he recognized the woman sitting there. Oh shit! The headmasters wife! he thought before remembering he want a student anymore and hadn't been for a long while. She looked distraught over her fallen spoon. "My apologies, Mrs. Black!" He said profusely, not caring that she might not know who he was. "I will buy you your dessert as apology!" Surely, that would make it all right?

Ursula looked up at the man who was responsible for bumping into her table, surprised that he knew her by name when she couldn't say she recalled being introduced. She hadn't met him under the influence of Laudanum, had she? "That is very kind of you, sir. I apologize, you seem to know me but I cannot say I recall making your acquaintance?" Ordinarily she would avoid highlighting her ignorance but she felt so certain she'd not been introduced to the gentleman and really she ought to at least know the name of the person buying her dessert.

Oh shit, he thought again. And if he was truthful to himself, it was an often occurring thought. He had not thought at all about the fact that they had not been introduced. He was constantly making such mistakes. Just because he knew a who a womans husband was didn't mean that he could be so presumptuous as to call her by name if she did not know who he was from Adam.

Stalling for time, he put in the order for her replaced dessert. "We had not been formally introduced, you are correct. I merely vaguely recall you having married the Headmaster during my time at school. I'm Alexander Echelon."

Ouch. He was at Hogwarts when she wed Phineas? It wasn't like she'd been far out of Hogwarts herself at the time but it made her sound so.... matronly. As though she were halfway through her thirties and developing a middle-aged roundness to her figure and considering marrying off a few children. She hoped she died before that ever became a reality for her. "Well, it is a pleasure to finally make your acquaintance then, Mr. Echelon." She was most relieved that they hadn't been introduced before, that meant she needn't worry about embarrassing herself by having forgot him. "Are you here with a friend?" It seemed only polite if he was replacing her treat that she offer him a seat out of gratitude, not to mention she'd feel less paranoid about being seen alone if she had some sort of company.

"And yours as well," Alex stated, able to say so quite truthfully. He couldn't recall ever having heard anything particularly bad about Mrs. Black. Then again, he also didn't pay much attention to gossips. Or he forgot. Usually, he just forgot. "Oh no, I came by myself to try out this place. It is quite charming and the desserts are unique, I suppose.

"It seems we both came alone with the same intention. I was supposed to come here with my friend today but she had to cancel at the last minute. I thought I might as well still come and see what the fuss is about." She wondered if the cold treats were any good or if it was merely aesthetic novelty. Hopefully it was a case of the former and not the latter, food had no business looking good but tasting dreadful.

"Oh, it's quite good, I think. I don't recommend eating it too quickly, though. I've seen some people get headaches that way." She didn't look the type to eat quickly but he supposed the warning was still a good one to give.

"Thank you, I shall keep that in mind," she replied, sounding somewhat bemused. Why would people eat something that gave them a headache? It was a good thing she ate like a small bird. "Whoever thought eating extremely cold food was a good idea? Were they partial to eating snow, I wonder?" It seemed a very odd thing indeed - cold, snow-like food, not the most obvious sort of thing unless one lived in a land where it constantly snowed.

Alexander couldn't blame the woman for being bemused. He was a bit bemused by the whole headache thing himself! Besides, only starving urchins ate fast. "Perhaps it was invented by Eskimos and Fudge brought the idea over?" He suggested since he did not know the answer to that himself. Then again, Eskimos lived where it was cold, why would they want a cold snack...Alexander decided he didn't really care to know.

"It is an odd concept, whatever the origin." She was starting to doubt it would be very tasty, it was probably just a passing novelty and the shop would be closed in a few months time because the entire thing was a catastrophic failure. It couldn't possible survive the winter, people wanted warmth not cold when they were already half frozen by the weather. So it was probably best to try it now before it went out of business. "I cannot see it doing well once winter arrives." Once it was closed, she could in time brag about the fact that she had had the chance to experience the oddity before it disappeared for good.
