DECEMBER 30TH 1884
CURRENT QUIDDITCH LEAGUE RANKINGS
APPLEBY LEADS BY ONLY 10 POINTS |
With professional games wrapped up until 1885 begins, the Quidditch League has decided to release current official rankings. 1. 880 - Appleby 2. 870 - Puddlemere 3. 760 - Portree 4. 680 - Chudley 5. 660 - Kenmare 6. 670 - Falmouth 7. 630 - Caerphilly 8. 600 - Hogsmeade 9. 550 - Holyhead 10. 430 - Tutshill 11. 380 - Wimbourne 12. 360 - Montrose 13. 0 - Ballycastle 14. 0 - Wigtown At present, the Appleby Arrows are dominating the league under the leadership of team captain Mr. Edward Mohr. Until December it looked quite likely that the Caerphilly Catapults would be in the top five as well, but they fell behind after scoring only 160 points in their December 6th match against Appleby. However, only slightly behind the Arrows is Puddlemere United - which could easily unseat them next month, though the Pride of Portree or the Chudley Cannons could just as easily make a move. Nothing is a sure science in Quidditch. _____________________________________________________________ |
The Holyhead Harpies, who dominated the League last year and actually came in first place, are not doing well this season - whether that's because they lost Miss Gallagher and Miss Dobbs to marriage or because of other internal reasons no one is sure, but either way the ladies aren't performing as well as their fans would have hoped. It could be worse, though. The Wimbourne Wasps were in third place last year when the season was shut down and are currently languishing in eleventh - to the shame of their sponsor! Montrose's lagging is as predictable as the sunrise; they were just as bad last year! The Hogsmeade Howlers - a relatively new team, as you all know - have started to climb the ranks, and are currently ranked in eighth though they could easily outrank Caerphilly or Falmouth if given a high-scoring enough match. Of course, they could just as easily be unseated by the Holyhead Harpies if Holyhead does well enough in its next match. Wigtown and Ballycastle are presently unranked due to their recent situation, and will not have the opportunity to make up the games. Their sponsors are reportedly enraged, but league representatives maintain - and Quidditch correspondents agree - that if they wanted to stand a fighting chance this season, they should have called that match off three months ago. With several more months to go in the season, there's really no telling how this will pan out! AUTHOR: MITCH QUIDDEL |
