It would take a little coaxing, but Ev would admit he was a little nervous for this luncheon. While he was a social butterfly and always had been, events like this, to recruit and scout players in a more formalized fashion left him feeling just a bit on edge. While he was thrilled to have purchased the Harpies with some of Grace's inheritance, he was still brand new to this side of the business and realistically, his reputation was still a bit shoddy at best. His past mistakes weren't things he could erase, no matter how firmly he'd settled down, started a family and worked a respectable job.
Regardless, he was excited if a bit apprehensive about how today would go. Hopefully he could just focus on recruiting players and scouting students hopefully none of whom remembered him for the team. They weren't having the best of years, but he was hoping that things could turn around for at least a moderately successful season. And so he stood by the refreshments table, wearing a tie of Harpies colors and trying desperately not to look out of place.
Mercifully his lovely wife was bopping around somewhere being her effervescent self which made his cause that much better. Of course her coaching of the Junior Harpies was a huge advantage for him, but he was trying to at least do some of this on his own merit. He had been a good player back in his day, knew what to look for, he'd been captain of the Hufflepuff team, it wasn't like he was oblivious after all. Fortunately, he had seen some of the Junior League practices, so he did know some of the players floating about, but figured he would wait and see how things went, for the moment at least.
