Sometimes Faustus got entirely frustrated by the process of wife-hunting. It had been so much simpler when his parents had simply arranged his match with Jane, but as he was technically now the head of the family it was not as though he could easily have his mother arrange another match, and more the pity that.

As such, he found himself at yet another ball, hoping to stumble across the right woman. "Excuse me, Miss, do you have room on your card for a dance?"

As always, the ball had been like any other balls she had attended. Boring and repetitive. The only good thing was being able to see her friends and having hope that she’ll marry an advantageous man like her sisters.

“Of course, sir.” It wasn’t like she can turn down the man’s offer of a dance. She liked dancing and her mother was nearby talking to another socialite. If Mrs. Baudelaire would hear her deny an eligible man, she would have a whole night of lecture about how bad spinsterhood will be.

She seemed the normal sort for balls, which meant Faustus was instantly bored. Of course, Jane probably would have looked much the same if she'd been left to find her own husband.

    He hated the whole process.

"Are you enjoying the evening?" he asked politely, trying to think of a good way to discover what sort of mother she would make.

“Yes, I am.” She politely answered. “Mr. Lytton is a very talented man.” Ligeia was wearing  one of his creations after all. She strived to dress her best  “And very kind to that he’ll donate the money he received from the auction.” She added. Although she had doubts if he was really kind, He could only be doing it for the sake of looking good to his clients. “How about you?”
