Appearance: Standing at a height of about five foot three, Charlotte is the smallest in her family û an annoyance of hers as she's already the youngest. She has an oval shaped face that's thin (she's finally losing her baby fat) which accentuates her high cheekbones and subtle, curved eyebrows. Bright blonde hair frames her face either pin straight or soft curls pinned in simple updos, depending on how she's dressing for the day. Her big hazel eyes, more green than brown, are proportionate to her face and surrounded by thick, lush lashes, set beneath light brownish-blonde eyebrows. They can be expressive to her current mood but she works to keep her inner most thoughts hidden behind a strong faþade. The petite witch is slender in weight with small hands and feet. She is left-handed when it comes to using her birch wand, as well as for writing, and tends to wear fancy dresses when out of the castle with many bright and sometimes contrasting colors to go for variety. Though she hates anything frilly and bursting with lace or bows.
History: Charlotte Sophia Aesalon was born to a middle class family on a warm summer night in 1864. Being the youngest of four children it was difficult for the small girl to grow up without feeling some resentment towards her siblings, especially her beautiful sister whom she wished she could be, but their close ages allowed them to play together when there was no one else around.
Their home was located in a mostly muggle community with a few magical families living nearby, blending in with the everyday life. The Aesalon children attended private boarding schools to receive their education in their early years. Charlotte enjoyed going there but she wished she could have stayed home and had tutoring instead. It made her jealous when her mother told her about what the Upper Class had that they did not.
She would turn to her father for answers as to why she couldn't have a tutor and why she couldn't have fancier dresses with lace and ribbons. He often told her that what they had was of great quality, something many others did not. He explained the harshness of belonging to the Lower Class, and how they were very fortunate to belong in the Wizarding World and have high salaries. She soon discovered that the topic of money was something her parents argued about often.
Charlotte received her Hogwarts letter on her eleventh birthday in 1875. She was extremely excited having heard the numerous tales from her siblings and couldn't have been any more pleased to be seated at the Gryffindor table after her sorting. Her school years passed quickly with excessive homework and events year round. Her parents were proud of her marks in school, all above average, and they treated her to a pet kitten on her thirteenth birthday for receiving "O's" on her class finals.
The year 1879 the fourteen year old's life changed forever. All Magical families were exposed to the Muggle community and the Aesalon's were driven out of their long-time home and forced to move to Hogsmeade. They took up residence in a friend's home until theirs could be built, which took a few months, but by the time it was done Charlotte and her closest brother were back in school, their eldest two siblings having graduated already. It was a few weeks after school started that the two Aesalon siblings received the news their father had died from a heart attack. It was shocking and devastating to them all.
Christmas time the same year she became friends with a boy in her grade and they steadily grew closer, him being the solid shoulder she needed to cry on at the time. They began courting before the summer holidays even started. Another year passed, his birthday came and went with no celebration, and Charlotte began to withdraw from her family. Her personal life became more private and she longed for solitude. She didn't want to be around any happiness or people moving on from their father's death. It was still too fresh for her.
She missed him terribly and wished he was there to give her advice on what do to with her budding relationship. He would give her an honest, non-judging answer whereas, more recently, her mother was always telling her that the youngest Aesalon should marry into an Upper Class family, carry on the family honor and secure their place in the Wizarding Society. As her graduation loomed closer her courtship with her beau became more serious as they discussed marriage. It was something she desperately wanted with him, her mother be damned.
Knowing it would irk her mother and go against everything she tried to teach her growing up about Wizarding Society and social status, he and Charlotte became secretly betrothed to wed the moment they both became of age. It sparked a fire in her chest and she knew that if her father was there he would be proud that she took in his advice and saw past the level of income to the person they were, something her mother never did.
Personality: Charlotte likes to keep to herself, keep her life as private from her family as possible. Especially when it comes to her achievements and relationships. She feels overshadowed by her older siblings who are moving on in life and making their mother proud before she could even have a chance to. She figures, why bother now? It takes quite a bit to make Charlotte angry and her mother has done a fantastic job of that by trying to step into her life. To go with her light appearance the blonde witch is a romantic at heart. She desires to see herself in a small house with a white picket fence, a few children ambling around the fresh mown yard, and her husband there to kiss her cheek as he returned from work. Charlotte is loyal to her brothers, her sister, her betrothed, and a few close friends she obtained during her Hogwarts years.
Patronus: An arctic wolf
Boggart: Being a failure in her father's eyes
Amortentia: Fresh air, Lavender, and Pine
Sample Roleplay Post: Intricately braiding a section of her long, blonde hair, Charlotte twisted the entire chunk in with the mass of curls secured to her head, tucking the loose ends down to her scalp to prevent it from coming undone. It had taken her many hours to finally be ready for this day and as she stood in front of her reflection, her slim torso turning this way and that to admire herself from all angles in the charming school uniform, the Gryffindor felt she could now leave the tower with confidence.
Her pale hand glided across her slightly protruding collarbones, wide hazel eyes following its movement as it came to rest on a thin gold chain. After peering around to make sure she was indeed alone, her thin fingers grasped the metal and tugged it up slowly. She never removed her gaze from her bosom as a sparkly object emerged, and only then did she look down at her engagement ring. It was so perfect for her û a simple gold band with three small diamonds placed on the top of the ring, the middle being slightly bigger than the others. A soft sigh escaped her lips as she thought of her betrothed and just like that her day looked brighter already.
