Charming is a Victorian Era Harry Potter roleplay set primarily in the village of Hogsmeade, Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and the non-canon village of Irvingly. Characters of all classes, both magical and muggle — and even non-human! — are welcome.
With a member driven story line, monthly games and events, and a friendly and drama-free community focused on quality over quantity, the only thing you can be sure of is fun!
"Are you always this forward?" He asked teasingly since it would be a very short thread if he just ignored her entirely. — Tobin Cartwright in Take A Peek
Did you know? Churchgoers and worshippers had to endure a foul stench during prayers due to the amount of bodies often stored within the vaults of churches and chapels.
Welcome back to school, children! The more astute of you may recall that, at the start of the year, we delved into personal histories as our first glimpse into the “History of Magic”—with this task, though, you’ll be looking into family history. Each one of you is to complete a family tree to the best of your ability—I know some of you will have more information available to them than others—indicating the ‘flow’ of magic, or lack thereof. Once this is complete, please pass it in as well as a brief analysis* on how you believe this impacts your own potential. Those of you who paid attention in your Magical Theory classes will know that in at least one area, there is a ‘wrong’ opinion! I shall give you the remainder of today’s lesson to get a start on this, but expect to see results in a fortnight.
* 100 words tops, please!
Trees will be worth 15-25 HP, and write-ups 5-15. Remember that during this era, only the most…into themselves families (or those with a particularly aggressive family historian) would be able to report anything past great-grandparents, and LC children would be lucky to produce more than two great-grandparents, so no pressure there! Related to me? Hit me up if you need any clarification on relations! OOC Deadline: January 20th
Being a muggleborn, all the family members I can find have been muggles. Magical theory has figured that that magic likely ran in my family at some point through a squib who married a muggle. Even though there's lots of people who say they're better because of their "pure blood", there's nothing the suggests that they're any better at magic than me!
No pureblood wizard is guaranteed to be better at magic than a muggleborn wizard. But because prejudice exists, it may be harder for me to find get involved in politics or something else because of my muggle ancestry.

Note: I had difficulty getting information from my parents so I only listed my grandparents who I knew.
I come from a family with mixed background. My Papa is English and my mother is Arab. Because of this, I know more about my Papa's family history than my Mama's, but I do know all of my grandparents. The Brownhill family has muggle ancestry, but my Papa's mother's side are halfbloods. The Nejem family is a halfblood family. Having more magical blood than muggle does not mean you're better at magic than anyone else, because someone who is muggleborn can be just as powerful as someone who has all magical blood.
As a muggleborn, the magical lineage of my family is difficult to trace. Some ancestor of mine was likely a squib, meaning that despite purist views that muggleborns are inherently inferior, technically we came from them and so are of the same magic. We are all magic - why can we not accept this as truth?
As to the flow of magic in my family tree, I am uncertain as to where I might be able to trace it. Not much is known of my great-great grandparents save their names and that my father's grandfather Richard was the founder of the business that Father now operates. Thus, I left them off of the list.
Here is what I know of my family tree. I hope it is satisfactory.
This is not an easy task, since the matter is a sensitive subject, so I hope the information I display here remains secret, I do not want to see my mother suffer more with her past, her soul had been through enough all these years, let her judgment rest in the hands of the gods and not on the anomalous tongues of our society.
I am not sure if there some trace back in maternal blood, however, I know that my father bloodline is overflow with magic. I could be mistaken, however ad libitum, I shall do my best base in what I know and manage to learn during my growth. I might need to investigate further, although, I am positive, if not with absolute certainty, that my paternal great-grandmother had been able to see beyond the veils of time. In other words, there is a chance either me or my sister might be quite versed in the divination arts.
