Arthur listened to her answer thoughtfully - a rarity, when he was not trying to play cards - and smiled brightly when she was done. "That sounds - nice," he said, "Really nice." He thought that he would have done well with sisters - brothers would have split up the inheritance, which probably would have been good for his mother but bad for Arthur.

"Thank you. For telling me," Art said, "Do you think you're ready for that dance now?" He grinned.
