January 17th; set after the events of this thread; wearing
After her mother finally released her and Antigone, Ellory had headed straight to her room. As if by some perfect design of fate, the corridors leading from the parlour to the Philip Suite were empty. Ellory had already been tortured and humiliated, she didn't need or want a walk of shame.

    Ginny was in the room.

Ellory had not thought if her roommate would be in their suite or not. The sight of her was most certainly welcome. It also broke down whatever defenses Ellory had put up in order not to show weakness.

"Ginny." She made, her voice broken. She walked up to her, as if for an embrace, but she stopped fight in front of her. She gave her dearest friend a child-like look of grievance, and, for the first time, she allowed herself to cry.

Guess what scene from the X Files I modeled this after >.>

There was no-one that Ginny hated more than Antigone Lestrange—not even Toussaint—and she had lost track of quite how long she had waited, stomach in knots and her pacing practically wearing a hole in the floor, for her best friend to return from tea with the viper and a woman who had not always been particularly maternal.

She had expected Ellory to return perhaps a little worse for wear, scolded and indignant and desperate to get her grievances off her chest, but what greeted her instead from the doorway was far worse and Ginny's heart constricted in her chest as she reached for the other girl. She half expected Ellory to break when she embraced her, so fragile did she seem, but her arms tightened around her when she felt her friend sag plaintively against her and Ginny pressed her lips worriedly into her hair.

    Merlin, what had happened? "Ellory?"

In Ginny's arms she felt warm and safe, and that made her crying worse. Now that she'd started crying, she couldn't make it stop. She'd held on for too long. Strength was inevitably met by weakness afterwards.

She wanted to tell Ginny everything, like she'd told her of her lesser punishements the evening before. She wanted to tell her that her mother was a madwoman, and that Antigone Lestrange was remorseless. Part of her wished that maybe, just maybe, Ginny would find a way to sneak her away from her mother's clutches and take her to safety. The Favreaus could hide her away, couldn't they? They could present her as their distant cousin Edmee from France, or maybe sneak her away to France where her mother couldn't find her.

But she couldn't tell Ginny, could she? That would put her in danger. Merlin knows what her insane mother would do to Ginny, if she were to know that Olivia Pendergast was a criminal.

She held on tightly on her felt, and continued to sob. She hadn't known that she was capable of producing such pitiful sounds until today.

Now Ginny wasn't simply concerned, she was frightened and she clutched Ellory tighter, fingers moving soothingly through her hair. If she weren't so sure that Mrs. Pendergast was partly to blame for whatever had caused Ellory such distress she would contemplate calling her but her mother was the very last person she expected her friend wanted right now. She was certainly the last person Ginny wanted to see, with the possible exception of Mrs. Lestrange.

"Come, let's sit down," she murmured, nudging Ellory gently in the direction of the bed. She didn't think sitting would help—she didn't think anything would help with Ellory so distraught!—but at least she would be more comfortable. Oh, she wished she knew what to do besides hexing Antigone the next time she saw her smug face! "You can tell me anything, Ellory. Anything at all."

Ellory was now sobbing pettily, so pettily, that one part of her wanted to just disappear so she wouldn't have to listen to herself produce such sounds. It was an awful sort of feeling. She felt disgusted, disgusted with herself.

She allowed for Ginny to lead her to one of the beds. Once she was down, she clutched her face, while her mourning veil was still clouding it. At this point, she couldn't care less if tears or something more got smeared all over it.

Ginny's words brought a moment of relief in Ellory. For the briefest of moments, she was prepared to pour her heart out to her friend. But she couldn't. And that made her feel more miserable.

"Oh, but I can't! I can't Ginny!" Telling Ginny would put her in danger. And besides. Would Ginny believe her? She knew how strict her mother could be, but would she ever believe that she was capable of going that far? She could think that she was going mad, and that she was making things up.

Part of Ginny was hurt by Ellory’s determination not to tell her what was wrong but she was not a selfish girl - nor, for that matter, was she a stupid girl, and anyone with half a brain could see that Ellory wanted to tell her. She wanted to but she couldn’t and that the most alarming thing of all. Something was horribly wrong and Ginny could no nothing more for her friend but hold her and tell her that everything would be alright. She couldn’t even do that and she helplessly tightened her arms around Ellory.

“Whatever it is you’re not alone,” she promised, feeling tears burning her own eyes. “I won’t let you be alone.” She wished she could do more. One day she would. One day Ginny would leave and she would take Ellory with her.

Ginny's words, coupled by her tightened embrace, made Ellory feel as though she was a piece of soap, thrown into water. She buried her face deeply into the other girl's shoulder, as if she'd predicted the symphony of wails that followed. At this moment, Ellory wanted to scream. To let all of her pain and anger out, which had gathered inside her chest like her hair would always do after she'd brushed it.

"I'm so sorry," Ellory apologized, not fully sure what for. Not telling Ginny? Or was it the gathering feeling of hatred inside her chest which made her feel terrible thoughts about everyone that had slighted her.

If she held Ellory any tighter she would crush her. If only she could do anything to help but Ginny was powerless to protect the person she loved best in the world and it was killing her.

"You don't ever have to say sorry to me," she whispered fiercely. "Oh I could kill that snake for hurting you."

She didn't clarify which woman she meant. She hated them both. She felt sick with hatred.
