ANIMAGUS ACADEMY

After becoming aware of the market for people who wanted to become an animagus, Rufus thought to found the Animagus Academy in London. Opened in 1881 to the public, the Animagus Academy is a seven room building in the south side of London that is concealed to muggle eyes. It is made up of two classrooms, one tea room, an apothecary, a healer's room, a library, and a staff room.

While mainly affordable for the upper and middle class members of society with NEWTs in Transfiguration, Rufus offers NEWT-level Transfiguration classes for any lower class students who would like to begin a higher-level education on the subject—though few are able to afford these. Most of the NEWT-level classes are taken by older housewives who never finished their schooling due to marriage.

Appearance:

Rufus, for as wild his facial hair might appear at times, remains a generally good-looking man (at least in his eyes). He stands at six feet, two inches tall, and weighs slightly more than one hundred and eighty pounds. He has a rather wide and sturdy build, though it doesn't extend to the amount of weight kept on him. He dresses in only the finest quality of robes, preferably in shades of grey and black. He has short, dark brown hair and brown eyes. He is right-handed.

History:

1858 | Rufus is born the first son to Charles Scrimgeour and his wife. Though the eldest son in the family, his father pays little attention to him and he's instead given attention by his nurse/nanny.

1862 | Julius is born at the beginning of the year and Myrtle towards the end of the year. So many new babies during the year leave the four-year-old unable to handle the change without throwing a few fits.

1865 | Samantha is born, and sadly their mothers dies of a hemorrhage within hours of her birth. The daughter survives, however, and is left in the care of the nanny for the time being. With a newborn daughter and a toddler son left in his care, Charles doesn't waste any time remarrying a young debutante. Rufus quickly decides he does not like her. One good thing does come from the matrimony, though—Rufus spends more quality time with his father and the two grow closer.

1867 | Rufus shows his first sign of magic after setting his step-mother's dress on fire when she tries to tell him what to do. He doesn't take lightly to her thinking she can boss him around and is quick to yell, "YOU'RE NOT MY REAL MOTHER!" in her face.

1868 | Rufus' half-sister, Annabelle, is born. He does not like her.

1870 | Rufus' half-brother, Joseph, is born. He does not like him even more. In September, Rufus begins Hogwarts and is sorted into Gryffindor—his mother's house. He finds a strong talent for Transfiguration early on and is able to conquer a few higher year spells before finishing his first year. He does not, however, share any patience for his Potions or Herbology class, as he finds them a waste of time.

1872 | Rufus adds Arithmacy to his electives.

1874-1875 | Rufus is appointed Gryffindor prefect during the summer before his fifth year. He spends much of the year studying, and begins pressing his Transfiguration professor about helping him learn how to become an animagus. Shortly after the Christmas holidays end, his professor agrees and begins teaching him theory and provides him with the steps he needs to take. Rufus takes his OWLs in the spring and gets beautiful scores: four Os in Transfiguration, Defence Against the Dark Arts, Charms, and History of Magic, and four Es in Herbology, Potions, Astronomy, and Arithmacy. He chooses to continue with only four NEWT classes for the coming school year: Transfiguration, Charms, Defence Against the Dark Arts, and Arithmacy.

1876 | Rufus is appointed heady boy during the summer before his seventh year. He quickly begins preparing his his upcoming NEWTs and feels confident in his abilities to succeed.

1877 | Rufus takes his NEWTs and gets excellent scores: four Os in every single subject exam! He leaves Hogwarts and goes off to work in the Department of Magical Education at the ministry, but is constantly in a state of unhappiness at his work. He continues working on his transformation in hopes of perfecting his skills to become an animagus.

1879 | After three years of practicing, Rufus finally completes the transformation. He finds that he turns into a grey lemming.

1801 | Rufus quits his job and, with a loan from his father, purchases a building in south London. He founds the Animagus Academy after hearing that a few of his friends would pay to learn how to become an animagus and seizes the opportunity. He hires a few staff members—two teachers, two maids, and a mediwizard—an opens it to the public in late November. He quickly finds that many people are interested.

1883 | Rufus has his first love—a middle class pureblood woman who comes to work as a teacher at his academy. He quickly realizes the marrying her would jeopardize his reputation, as she's not even from the middle middle class, and turns a cold shoulder on her as she continues to work. He does not, however, lose his feelings for her.

1884 | His love finds herself stuck within the quarantine zone during the Hogsmeade Laughing Plague and dies within weeks. Struck with horror, Rufus throws himself back into his work. To add more pain, Rufus' father dies during the year from tuberculosis and he's left to be in charge of his siblings.

1886 | Rufus plans to publish his first book on the subject of becoming an animagus in August and waits for the publisher's word.

Personality:

Somewhat of a procrastinator. Generally friendly. Studious. Rather rambunctious in his childhood. Serious about serious things and laid-back on other matters. Respectful to everyone he meets.
