Wentworth Etheredge, Father [1834]
— An emotionally distant man, Cora's father does his best to support her family and spends most of his time away from the home. While he doesn't share a close bond with any of his children, he always makes sure their needs are taken care of. He works as a banker in London.

Elizabeth Etheredge (née Fitzsimmons), Mother [1849]
— A tender, loving women, Cora's mother often struggled to maintain the image of a perfect lady in her youth. She often encourages her children to go after their dreams more than she encourages them to conform to strict society. She runs her own hat-making business from home.

Thomas Etheredge, Brother [1869-1869]
— Because he was born and died before Cora was born, she has little to no opinion on him. She's only vaguely aware of her mother's sadness over the loss of him.

Ruth Etheredge, Sister [1873]
— Because of their closeness in age, one might assume that the two sisters are close—that's far from the truth. Ruth resents her sister for her magical abilities and wishes she'd been the witch instead. It has gotten even worse since the youngest child in the family has shown signs of magic.

Willoughby Etheredge, Brother [1875]
— The youngest child in the family, Willoughby idolizes Cora and looks to her for guidance, especially where his magical outbursts are concerned. He's the perfect definition of a free spirit and doesn't worry too much about the future. He will most likely attend Hogwarts in 1887.

Appearance:

Cora stands at a petite four feet, eleven inches tall, and has a slender figure. Never one for athletics, she barely has any muscles on her bones, but has a healthy amount of fat on her body so she doesn't appear completely made from skin and bones. She has medium-length, golden blonde hair and clear, blue eyes that rest against her very pale complexion.

She enjoys muggle dresses more than wizard robes, and can often be found in shades of blue and purple paired with one of her mother's eclectic hats when not in her uniform. She wields her wand with her right hand.

History:

1872 | Cora is born the second child to Wenworth and Elizabeth Etheredge, though she's the only living child in the family. She proves to be a restless baby and gives the nurse a good run for her money during her first year.

1873 | Cora's younger sister, Ruth, is born a little over a year after her. Still very young, Cora doesn't take much interest in her younger sister, though is upset that she doesn't receive exclusive attention anymore.

1874 | Cora's father secures a job as a banker in one of London's biggest banks. The family's wealth climbs steadily over the next few years, but Wentworth insists that they save for the future instead of spending it lavishly.

1875 | Cora's younger brother, Willoughby, is born. His lack of crying in his first few days causes a little worry in the Etheredge family, causing Elizabeth to grow distant from her son in fear that he will die like her eldest son.

1876 | Cora begins her childhood education, learning basic math, history, and how to read and write. She also learns how to sew, knit, and crochet, and even takes an interest in embroidery. Her father thinks she'll one day be a promising bride, though she carries a reputation as a troublemaker with the locals after they caught her climbing a tree and accidentally knocking over an old birdhouse.

1877 | As the muggle's find out about magic, Cora begins to show signs of magic herself. The family keeps her hidden in fear that the mob will come after their daughter. Cora doesn't believe she's magical; in fact, she believes a witch has put a curse on her to distract the non-magic folk by leading them to Cora rather than the witch.

1880 | After the strange magical occurrences in Cora's presence persists, she finally gives up on the idea that a witch had cursed her; instead, she believes she's got special powers and tries to make strange things happen on purpose. However, it soon becomes apparent that strange things do happen when she tries, but usually not in the way she wanted them to. After breaking a piece of her mother's favorite china, she stops trying her abilities out.

1883 | Cora receives a visit from a Hogwarts staff member telling her that she's been invited to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. She's excited by the revelation that she's a witch, though her parents immediately worry about their reputation and become very careful about keeping this fact secret. She goes off to school in the fall, with her parents telling the locals that a great aunt had invited her to attend a special school for young ladies in northern Scotland that prepares them to become graceful socialites. Cora is sorted into Hufflepuff upon her arrival, and finds quite the knack for Defence Against the Dark Arts, Transfiguration, and Potions. She does not, however, enjoy "silly" charmwork.

1884 | Upon returning home from Hogwarts during the summer, she's shocked to find how cold her younger sister has become towards her. Ruth refuses to speak to her, and can often be heard mumbling something about a witch under her breath. It becomes apparent to her parents that Willoughby seems to be magical, much like Cora.

1885 | Cora begins her third year, having added Divination, Muggle Studies, and Care of Magical Creatures to her schedule. She immediately finds a love for Divination and enjoys reading other students their fortunes.

1886 | Cora enters her fourth year. The Sorting Hat is stolen by Peeves at the beginning of the year, causing many of the students to become quite upset—especially the first years. She, however, throws herself into her studies, already preparing for her upcoming OWLs in the spring of 1888.
