As a preemptive strike Elladora had taken the decision to get out of the house and therefore away from Ursula and any plans she might have for her birthday before they could make themselves known. Last year's 'surprise' still sprang indelibly to mind every time her corset brushed against her nipples and though she had kept them - refusing to run the risk of Ursula finding out and thinking her weak - she certainly didn't want to find herself with a new, unfortunate adornment by the end of the day.
She had considered a jaunt to Wellingtonshire but the possibility of being seen was ever-present and not high on her list of priorities so the library had tempted her in. It was quiet, half-empty and there was absolutely no possibility of Ursula setting foot inside.
Unfortunately it was also inhabited by somebody with the most annoyingly audible symptoms of cold Ella had ever heard in her life. Even the cries of her nieces and nephews when they had been in the cradle were less irritating. They were babies and didn't know better. This person on the other hand-
"Are you quite sure this is the place you ought to be?" She finally snapped. "Might I suggest the hospital as a more appropriate venue?"
