    O Brother Where art thou

’NELLY!’ Gwen shrieked in delight, as her brothers carriage stopped in front of the main doors of Wethertop castle. The staff were arranged in two long lines leading to the door, the footmen, and stable hands ready to take control of the boxes, clothing, horses and dogs of the Viscount when they arrived. The Countess hurried down the steps to greet her big brother and threw her arms around him in a hug. ’Oh I’m so glad you were able to arrive before everyone else’ she gushed and linking her arm with his led him into the house. Fitzhugh greeted his brother in law with a pat on the back and then excused himself to see to hunt preparations.

She led Cornelius into the sun room and seated herself on one of the white wrought iron chairs. The footman brought in a pitcher of lemonade and lemon raspberry biscuits for them. ’Tell me, my dear Nelly what have you been getting up to since last we were together?’ she asked, ’and did you hear of all my excitement with that blasted Veela?’

Cornelius always adored his younger sister. She was a vivacious and high-spirited woman, and always did her best to tend to his needs when he came to visit her and her husband. She was also very affectionate, at least with him. Cornelius chucked as he was wrapped in her much-smaller arms and wrapped his arms around her in return.

"Gwen, darling," he said in greeting, allowing himself to be dragged through her home. "I've been well — entertaining myself with leisurely activities and the like. And I haven't heard of this excitement you speak of — you must tell me all about it!" He didn't dare suggest that he'd been on the lookout for a bride; he knew he'd be matched with three young ladies before the day was out!

Cornelius is formally introduced as "Viscount Hillingham", but is addressed as "Lord Hillingham" the first time in conversations and letters, and "My Lord" afterwards.

She fluffed her hair that was carefully quaffed into fine thick curls and affected a highly scandalised manner. Gwen loved a bit of drama, the scandal and the moral outrage that could be mustered from any given event was an endless source of amusement for the Countess. Prohibited from business and indeed from working in anything like a gainful manner the curation and dissemination of social news was something like a hobby.

She poured both herself and Cornelius tea, and lifted her own to her lips. ’I was attacked!’ she said, and her tone was nothing short of delighted. ’a full blooded Veela was in the music shop, where I was shopping for Verity, and just attacked me her eyes never left her brothers face as she tried to gage his reaction over the top of her teacup. ’It was utterly horrid’ although her tone was anything other than horrified.

His brows shot up at her story, and he momentarily wondered if she was being overly dramatic or if she really was full-on attacked by a veela. It was a fantastical story, one that someone might give when they were trying to entertain those around them. He doubted his sister needed to impress him, though; they were already close and she knew he loved her.

"Did you think to ... stun her? I doubt anyone would look down on you if you fought her back in self-defense," he commented with a frown.
