As you are aware, your brother's wife has recently birthed healthy twins, for which they both are to be congratulatedùthough I trust, being the well-brought witches and wizard that you are, you have already done so. What you do not know, however, is that Ramona and Stella will not be the only Pendergasts joining our number in the near future.

I tell you by letter because I cannot think that surprising you upon your return home is the brightest of notions, and I would plead that you keep this knowledge entirely secret, as I cannot impress upon you enough the fragility of the situation; at any moment, something might go awry, and I should hate to endure informing those I did not wish told to begin with. Quite startlingly, your father and I find that we are, once again, expecting, and your Aunt Mariana suggests that, if all goes well, we might see a new addition to our family early in March.

As an aside, please remember that your sister's wedding is on the third day of the new year.
