    Cousin Seneca,
It has been some time in which we have last written to each other and I have missed such correspondence and in such I wish this had come in better light. Our famil(y/ies) has suffered great loss in the past week with both Mrs Olivia Pendergast and my father. With the traggities that have occurred I wished to write to see how you were fairing and honestly, to warn you to watch your back and that of your branch of the family. This past week has proven we can never be to careful and even the greatest figures can fall to things we least expect.

I know I am uneasy at home. It was only a maid who murdered my father and while she had come forth, I fear she is not the only one and that even if their reason is different and they saw that the maid has failed, they will use her as a inspiration and a lesson. Unless we hire a Legilimen, we will never know who else has plans.

    Stay safe.

    Sincerely,
    — Germander Macnair —

    Cousin Germander,

It is indeed a tragic time for our families. I still cannot believe that Auntie Olivia is dead. I blame the Ministry's negligence for her death. She ought to have been their top priority as far as rescuing people went. It is appalling that they allowed for such an influential woman to find such an ungraceful demise.

I was sorry to read about your Papa. He didn't deserve to be murdered by a scullery maid of all people and in such a grotesque, Muggle fashion! She could have at least honoured him with the Killing Curse. That is what I would want if I was to be murdered - to have a clean, honourable and magical death, befitting to a Lestrange!

You must be very upset, I know that you and Uncle Eustace were close. Have you read the Will yet? I hope Cousin Yarrow doesn't get everything - between you and me, I don't think he deserves it. Do not tell Cousin Gretchen, though!

Will you be at Auntie Olivia's funeral tomorrow?

    Yours,

    Seneca Lestrange

    thanks bree for the avatar!

    Cousin Seneca,
As much as it saddens me to see that we are led by such, I must agree with you. The published list of deaths is dominated by the names of influential pureblood families. I did not see one name that I knew of muggle orientation - but I know many of whom favored the reconnecting with such filth that were rescued. They should have saved their efforts for those who align themselves with our own - not a species that will never accept us, who went as far as to burn us alive because we were different than them.

In such a muggle fashion? The thing about it is we would have never known who it was if she hadn't confessed. Magic leaves a trace. Such a brutal and uncivilized way does not. I am sure what prompt her to confess was her guilt over the fact she couldn't even bring herself to kill her master and 'lover' in an honorable fashion.

It is very upsetting but I feel as if Sage and Yarrow might have it worse in terms of being upset. They always favored him over mother. We were close, however, and it seems to quiet without him. The Macnairs have lost to many with my brothers, my sister, and now my father. It does not look to favourable for us.

We have not yet read the Will, but I believe we shall soon. We can't go to long without. As for Yarrow, he likely will get most of the inheritance once he ages into it - unless mother has something up her sleeve. I do not know honestly. I don't think she wishes to lose another son, but she does not view him favourably. It is an uneasy road we tread. But why, may I ask?, do you find his so undeserving?

As for Aunt Olivia's funeral, we will of course be there. We must present a united front even now.

    Sincerely,
