30th September, at this event. At the Greek history bit because WHY NOT.

This was the first election event that Drommy had attended, and it probably wasn't going to be the last. She had quickly decided that she quite liked these events, for at event hosted by Justin Ross, it was quite easy to think of a conversation topic - Justin Ross. And the event was hosted at the museum of magical miscellany so that was an added bonus.

However, Drommy's evening took a mild downturn when she spied a familiar face. It wasn't that seeing him was a bad thing, it was lovely, but she was so awkward! Oh Merlin she just didn't know how to feel!

Javert de Montfault just gave her a headache.

She had to say something though, didn't she? He must have seen her by now. Oh Merlin. Right. She could do this. Casually she wandered over, and then she acted as if she had just seen him and exclaimed "Good evening!"

It only took one conversation with Justin Ross for Javert to be won over by the other man. Justin Ross had been the only person to support him through his new position as head auror. The only person who had told him that he wasn't useless and that he was capable of doing a good job. The only person who hadn't criticized him for not solving cases in two seconds.

Javert wasn't a very political man. He could go with any candidate, so long as they weren't on the extreme end of either side of the political spectrum. He was, however, something like a soldier in their world and having his loyalty won over meant a great deal to him. In his opinion, Justin Ross would make a great leader and that was what mattered.

He'd come to Mr. Ross' first campaign event as a display of support. He was the head auror, so it'd mean a great deal for his superior's campaign for him to be seen supporting him.

Javert had actually been looking for Mr. Ross when he saw her.

He tensed when she approached him. Ever since his failed attempt to ask for her hand, Javert's interactions with Drommy Parkinson had been scarce. She brought a sense of shame in him. He had failed her. It was her mother's fault but he had failed her all the same.

"Good evening, Miss Parkinson," Javert greeted. "I thought that Orpheus would come."

Orpheus! He was an easy topic of conversation. Drommy told their mutual friend(?) about the whereabouts of her brother*. Once this topic was drained, Drommy continued onto another easy topic (the easy topic she had spent her night relying on) because she didn't dare to leave an awkward pause.

"Have you met the man himself?" she asked, clearly trying to make non-awkward conversation.

*I asked Jenny and she didn't know whether Orpheus would be there or not so we decided on vagueness.

"I have," Javert replied. "He's my superior."

He internally winced. How had that come off? As though he was mocking Miss Parkinson for not seeing the obvious!

"He's a good man and an excellent leader," he finally said, somewhat awkwardly.

Oh lord. Andromeda felt her whole body tense as he replied. Of course Mr Ross was Mr de Montfault's superior. She knew this. Could the ground swallow her up? Please?

"Of course," Drommy replied, with a painfully forced laugh, "Silly me! And head auror! I don't think I've had the opportunity to give my congratulations yet."

Javert, who'd heard Andromeda's real laugh several times in the past, detected the fakeness in the current one. That made his heart sink. He'd made his poor, sweet Andromeda awkward!

"Thanks," Javert replied and his features eased into a genuine smile. "You know, you're one of the few people who've congratulated me." An exaggeration, to an extent. Still, he'd been under the Prophet's fire since stepping up. All of the world's murder cases had to be piled up just in time for his promotion.

Drommy gave a comforting and genuine smile to Mr de Montfault. She had seen the papers and knew what they had said, she had ignored them though, she knew better. "I am sure that once you've shown to everyone your true character, everyone will congratulate you for a job well done." she told him, honestly.

Sweet Drommy would always be quick to offer a kind word. They also meant more to Javert, seeing that Drommy had offered them.

    "Thank you." And he smiled.
