Muggle Studies Points

Classes
There will be at least one OWL and NEWT level thread per term. You get 5 points for attending a class (3 posts minimum). Another 5 points will be awarded for asking relevant questions and participating in class discussions.

Papers
Turn in a paper in the homework forum and earn 10-25 points per paper. Number of points awarded will depend on length of paper, difficulty of topic and clarity. Accepted topics include: Why Muggles Need Electricity, The Pros and Cons of Magical/Muggle Communities (such as Irvingly), Why the Statute of Secrecy is Important, Muggle Politics, Muggle Monarchy and the Wizarding World throughout History, etc. Please tag @'Effie Croft' and @'Barnabas Skeeter'.

Studying
Study outside of class in a thread and receive 10 points. Three posts per studying student minimum and the thread must be archived. Points will not be awarded for dead threads. Please tag @'Effie Croft' and @'Barnabas Skeeter' in completed threads.

Fall Term Class Pairings/Projects

OWL Class (Years 3-5)
Fall term (September '86 - December '86) focuses on muggle games and hobbies - specifically card and playground games. Game centers will be set up throughout the class and students will be paired up to get hands on experience in playing (your choice) of: Happy Families, Tiddlywinks, Rock, Paper, Scissors (3 rounds must be played), and Dominoes.

To participate:
1. Use this thread to find a game partner.
2. Start a thread in the classrooms with your partner and play the game!
3. Once threads have reached 3 posts per student (minimum), tag @'Effie Croft' and @'Barnabas Skeeter' and she will come in and declare the winner. Depending on the game played, the winner may already be evident. Winners will receive 10 points while the other student will receive 5 points for participating.

Students can play one of each game throughout the months of September - December. A new thread should be started for each game.

NEWT Class (Years 6-7)
Fall term (September '86 - December '86) focuses on muggle games and hobbies - specifically sporting games and equipment. Activity centers will be set up around the classroom, and depending on the amount of room required, throughout the first floor corridor and even in the courtyard beyond. Students will get their choice of: archery (located in the courtyard), cycling (located in the corridor), or pall-mall (located in the classroom, which has been turned into a lawn.)

To participate:
1. Use this thread to find a partner.
2. Start a thread in the classrooms thread (though state which area your activity really takes place in) with your partner and play the sport!

3. For archery, the student will be awarded 5 points for each target hit. A die roll should be used to determine the success rate by each student after each attempt. Odds are misses, evens are hits. Die rolls will be done by partners. Once 3 attempts have been made per student, tag @'Effie Croft' and @'Barnabas Skeeter' and she will award points.

For cycling, if your character can successfully take a lap around the courtyard, they are awarded 10 points. They are awarded 5 points for participation, regardless of success. Once 3 posts have been made per student, tag @'Effie Croft' and @'Barnabas Skeeter' and she will determine whether the student was successful (via die roll.)

For pall-mall, the student will be awarded 5 points for each goal made. A die roll should be used to determine the success rate by each student after each attempt. Odds are misses, evens are hits. Die rolls will be done by partners. Once 3 attempts have been made per student, tag @'Effie Croft' and @'Barnabas Skeeter' and she will award points.

Students can participate in all three activities for maximum house points throughout the months of September - December. A new thread should be started for each sport.
