This had to be the first time in years that Edith was actually nervous. Survive a couple centuries? No problem! Drink blood to live? No problem. Teach a bunch of teenagers about how to treat animals with respect? HUGE problem.
She wasn't afraid of the kids, just wary. When she had pushed herself into getting the position, being the only qualified on such short notice she hadn't thought it out entirely like she normally did. She had such short time she was lucky to just get a teaching position rather than going back to prostituting. She hated that work the most, especially laying with all those men.
But currently, she was standing out by the lake, having left a note on the classroom door for the Care for Magical Creatures to meet her by the hut near the lake. The lake was hardly fifteen paces behind her, and the small hut that the previous Care for Magical Creatures professor used, was not more than twenty paces away in the other direction.
There wasn't much in the hut yet, since she had to leave behind the majority of her animals she had previously with the carnival. Plus, the animals she did have, she didn't want them getting scared by the mass of students that would be arriving any minute. Edith had something special established this time around for her third to fifth years, wanting to get the Mers involved. Especially since she was waiting on her shipment of animals for the school, and wanted to get the students in a hands on environment immediately.
The school had Mermaids in the black lake, which was absolutely perfect. She didn't need her animals shipped out through some contacts she had faster, when she could just utilize what was there. The hard part was convincing the Mers in the lake to agree to a class of students asking them questions and such. And since it was also sunny outside, Edith had to be careful to wear her full crimson hood and robe with gloves, which might have looked odd, but the less these students could see the less she would have to worry about them figuring out what she was.
"Welcome, I am your new professor for Magical Creatures, Miss Maygrove. I am glad you could all meet me out here." Edith mentioned, with a wave of her hand out across the sun streaming lake, as she saw some students approaching the hut.
