MARCH 16TH 1886
RILEY DEAD, GREENE IN HOSPITAL
CARRIAGE ACCIDENT PROVES FATAL ![]() |
![]() Tragedy struck Sunday evening when a carriage overturned in Wellingtonshire on Sunday evening. After spooking, one of the horses even fell upon it, severely crushing the two men the carriage carried. One was pronounced dead before even arriving at hospital—Mr. James Hadrian Riley, of Swallowbury. A healer for some years, Mr. Riley achieved note for running the Irvingly Infirmary during his wife’s pregnancy and later illness. He continued to spend much of his time there after leaving Hogsmeade Hospital, as well as working as a volunteer in the poorer areas of magical London. Mr. Riley was born in 1855 to Mr. and Mrs. Gideon Riley, and showed a great deal of academic _____________________________________________________________ |
promise throughout his schooling. His years since graduation, though occasionally startling, have also been dotted with a great deal of service to the community. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Felicity Riley; their two children Gideon James and Grace Florence; his mother; his sisters; and an assortment of nieces and nephews. His father passed in 1878, and his brother, Mr. Daniel Riley, readers might recall, passed tragically just after Christmas in 1882. The carriage’s other passenger, Mr. Corey Greene, remains in hospital. He is the husband to the widow Riley’s sister, Mrs. Florence Greene. The two men, reportedly, were on their way back to the Greenes’ home for dinner. AUTHOR: GULLIVER DORAN |
