    Gregory,

    Father is quite insisting that all we girls—save Cordy, who has work and an engagement on her side—attend Cousin Bennet’s (how strange I feel calling him that; I have only met him a handful of times!) engagement party on Wednesday. True to form, he thinks it best we mingle with The Noteworthies; even if we can’t get a husband out of it, I overheard him saying, at least we’ll be out and about.

    Needless to say, I am hardly thrilled. While I do hear that this Miss Browne is taller even than I am, I should find an engagement party quite without mirth regardless. Please say you will come to lessen my burden? I suspect it goes without saying that Father will not be moved on the topic.
