    PMG: The Internationals
    #1
    PMG: INTERNATIONAL OFFERINGS:

At last, the time has come to bring some international characters on-board PMG contestants!

As has been the case with other large-scale events of this nature, there will be some rules for both play and creation of international characters in place. Please familiarize yourself with them before moving on to reservations!
    1. No international character applications are to be posted prior to December 4th. This is to give staff time to complete the Activity Check and any necessary reactivations before being inundated with international applications ;)

    2. All international characters are restricted to the elsewhere, past, and journals/letters forum until January 2nd.

    3. Please remember that the point of an international character is an international character—let’s not have Susan live in England until it’s time to start school, please!

    4. Until further notice, players may take on no more than four international students. They must not be from the same school.

    5. Until further notice, players may take on no more than two school representatives.

    6. Reservations last five days.

    7. When making your (student) reservation, be sure to claim age range, gender, and ethnicity (where applicable). Failure to dibs all three could result in your application being denied!

    8. Hogwarts rules are in effect! While female internationals are exempt from the cuff, and mouthing off will earn you a detention but no loss of points, any ‘house point’ loss of twenty or more will be deducted from your school’s PMG score. Any ‘expulsion’ from Hogwarts will send your character immediately home and cost your team further points.

    9. International spectators are permitted at the castle for event days and the closing ceremony only.

    10. International students will attend core classes at their usual level. They may choose to attend elective courses at the OWL level.

    11. All international characters will leave at the end of the term. I cannot stress enough that there will be no transfers between schools!

Student ages are listed by (Hogwarts equivalent) year.

    INDIA: MANDIRA
Mandira was founded in the Late Middle Ages by wizarding citizens of the Ottoman Empire. Hidden in the lower portions of the Himalayan mountains, Mandira has a sprawling campus and the students sometimes complain about having to sprint from class to class!

One of Mandira's most popular elective classes is Healing Magic and the Humanities, an in-depth course that prioritizes philosophy and the classics as well as magic and healing ethics. Classes are offered in Hindi and English, and the divide means that the social circles of students who speak one but not the other hardly ever intersect - you can be roommates with someone and never actually speak to them. Students who are fluent - or even passable - in both have an incredible social advantage.

With the fairly recent inundation of students of European descent, Mandira has seen a rise in the popularity of broom sports, but the student population has and will always favor flying carpets. Graduating seventh years celebrate by racing down the mountains in teams, a tradition that transcends even the firmly-held linguistic divide!

They will bunk in the Slytherin dormitory.

HEALING MAGIC & HUMANITIES PROFESSOR: 30+. Male. Indian. UCPB.

    SOUTH AFRICA: VERLICHTEN
Founded by Dutch wizards in the late 1600s, Verlichten is located in the arid Bushmanland of South Africa and kept hospitable and stable by atmospheric charms - though it's not at all unusual for a student to try and get clever and disturb them!

Verlichten has always accepted students of any race, and the Shamanism & Tribal Magicks class was originally started in the mid-1700s in an attempt to entice more local wizards to send their students there.

The class caught on, though, and became extremely popular among the student population - it's not unusual to find students discussing obscure potions ingredients and the correct pronunciation of ancient spells, all for the sake of reviving or studying tribal magic! Verlichten's professors have made an effort to try and get local ghosts to stay there for this purpose.

Though South Africa is now a British colony, the dominant spoken language at Verlichten is still Dutch.

They will bunk in the Gryffindor dormitory.
    HEADMASTER: 40+. Mixed-Race. MALE UCAB.
SHAMANISM & TRIBAL MAGICKS PROFESSOR: 30+. Male. Black. MCAB.

    Female x4 (4/4 in play)
    Either x1 (1/1 in play)

    STUDENT ETHNICITY…
    Black x6 (5/6 in play)
    Either x4 (3/4 in play)

    ITALY: INCANTIMA
Located in rural Sicily, Incantima is one of the oldest wizarding schools in the world, and has a few decades on Hogwarts. It has always accepted students from the entire Italian peninsula even though Italy has only recently reunified, and it's not at all unusual for regional tensions or unification debates to explode over breakfast.

Incantima's class on Magical Art History, begun during the Renaissance, is an in-depth look at both wizarding art and wizards who have accidentally shown up
in muggle art. (Though no one has ever been able to settle on the Mona Lisa!) Students taking this class get to make forays into Rome to see famous muggle works of art and go into the underground art museums to look at magical Renaissance art - though the field trip frequently ends up in a student getting temporarily lost or missing a portkey, it's a yearly tradition and if it was ever cancelled the school would likely riot!

Unlike Hogwarts (and most other magical schools,) students at Incantima begin their studies at ten and stay for eight years. They are also filed into dorms based on wealth, leaving Incantima to have fiercely simmering class rivalries - on top of everything else.

They will bunk in the Ravenclaw dormitory.
DEPUTY HEADMISTRESS: 30+. Female. MCHB. Spinster.
MAGICAL ART HISTORY PROFESSOR: 35+. Either. MCHB or MCPB.

    STUDENT AGE…
    6-7 x3 (2/3 in play)
    3-5 x5 (2/5 in play)
    2 x2 (1/2 in play)

    STUDENT GENDER…
    Male x6 (2/6 in play)
    Female x2 (2/2 in play)
    Either x2 (1/2 in play)

BRAZIL: CASABRUXA SCHOOL OF THE MAGICAL ARTS
Established by Portugese wizards in the early 1600s, Casabruxa is located deep in the rainforest and is rumored to change location, though no one at the school has ever confirmed or denied this. Certainly it's even more well-hidden than the notorious Durmstrang, and the location has always been jealously guarded in case anyone tried to steal the secrets of Water Bending.

Casabruxa's infamous elective class, Water Bending teaches students to use magic to move water through purely physical motion. It is wandless magic in a way that foreigners have never seen it before, and can be used in tandem with others through synchronized motions - not to mention how interesting it makes fights!

Naturally, students spend so much time in or around the waterfall by the school that it's a surprise they don't have classes out there. That said, Casabruxa professors do frequently take their students outside for forays into the rainforest, because what better place in the world is there to learn Herbology?

They will bunk in the Hufllepuff dormitory.
HEADMASTER: 50+. Male. UCAB or MCAB.
WATER BENDING PROFESSOR: 30+. Either. LCAB.

    STUDENT AGE…
    6-7 x5 (4/5 in play)
    3-5 x4
    2 x1 (1/1 in play)

    STUDENT GENDER…
    Male x6 (2/6 in play)
    Female x2 (2/2 in play)
    Either x2 (1/2 in play)

Not sure how to name your international? Here are some guidelines on the proper conventions for our foreign visitors! Courtesy of Jenny!

International Spectators of the PMG will be the adult/pre-school families* of the competitors and the school representatives. Because they will be expected to find their own lodgings, it is unlikely that anyone lower class or anyone who mustwork (most middle class patriarchs, for example) will be able to stay for longer than a month. If your desired character falls into this category, you might consider having them NPCed instead.

Official school rosters will be posted in the new year.

Post below to reserve any roles you’re interested in (no need to reserve for spectators), and bon chance!

    * While it's not impossible for there to be spectators from countries not represented in the games, there would be very few; look at it this way—would you want to travel across the world to watch a bunch of children you've never met from countries you've never been to carve ice sculptures?

if I could marry Bee I would but I can't so I ship our characters instead.

I have Jaya as Herbology professor!
unless you're related to him, work under him, or are a mudblood, lucius is actually very friendly. your character might find him intimidating, but would not consider him a giant dick, esp. if they are also a UCPB.
