Sapphire had waited to panic. The day her Hogwarts letter was supposed to come-- which was just two days ago-- she hadn't really thought anything of it. She was still to caught up with having her sisters home for the summer, even if it was almost over for them!

Saturday she'd noticed the children around her, those who would be in her year-group specifically, talking about their Hogwarts letter. Still, she'd thought nothing of it, that morning anyways. Maybe there was just going to be to many incoming students and they couldn't get all of them out on time.

That afternoon, when her letter still hadn't arrived, she'd started to get worried. Was she not magical enough? She knew she'd done magic recently, if only accidental. This lack-of-letter made her doubt herself. Maybe her mother had been doing the magic for her so she wouldn't have to worry about not having any magic?

But her mother wouldn't do that... right?

It was that evening when when she finally asked. "Mama? Do I not have enough magic to go to Hogwarts?"

Wasn't sure if I should have replied first or not, but HERE IT IS XD
Emerald knew her younger sister would be attending the castle this coming semester and truly looked forward to her presence. She supposed Sapphire would follow in her footsteps and join her within the Hufflepuff house as the little girl was a bright and bubbly personality that made it her mission to interact and learn with others. It wouldn't have been a huge deal had this not been the choice of the sorting hat, though Emerald wouldn't guarantee her full satisfaction on the decision.

The day in which Sapphire was supposed to receive her letter turned into an event. It hadn't seemed so dire until this very moment; a child born into a magical family certainly had a high probability of possessing magical blood and receiving an acceptance letter to Hogwarts, but it wasn't looking like it for the hopeful first year. Emerald had seen first hand the capability of her sister and had little doubt in her ability of conducting her own magic... Even still, a slimmer of doubt lingered in her mind of Sapphire possibly being a squib. The thought itself presented an air of awkward tension and fright, surely similar emotions and feelings in the little red head as well.

The break in silence brought with it a question that could just have easily ruined her sister's life. The sheer possibility of being shoved aside from the rest of the family and exposed to society as some magic-less failure was a fate in which Emerald shuddered at. "I'm sure it's just stuck somewhere, Sapphire! Maybe some of the owls became sick and had to be tended to." She interrupted, adorning her face with a wide smile. She hoped their mother would be able to instill confidence in the child witch so as not to worry her and look for a means to correct this issue. Had this been the result of some flub at the school or wherever, Emerald supposed they wouldn't hear the end of it - Mr. Black, at least, would see no rest until such issues were properly tended to.

Sapphire hoped her sister was right. The owls just being sick and unable to deliver all the letters was a mild comfort to her. She still felt sick and panicky over the off chance that her mother had been the one preforming her 'accidental' magic that she thought she'd been doing since she could remember.

As if on cue, the candlee flickered out for a second before relighting themselves.

This did little to comfort her. The doubt of her even being able to do magic was making her stomach knot and cramp. Just the thought of her mother having lied to her made her want to cry, run to her room, and not come out for the next year. "Do you think so?" She asked her sister weakly. "I didn't think Hogwarts Owls got sick..."
