Akira was appointed as the Japanese ambassador to the British Ministry of Magic in 1857. He lived in London for several years and married an especially enchanting Englishwoman in 1860.   Anne Matsumoto, nee Norwood, Mother | Anne's mother was a veela who managed to charm her way into a comfortable marriage to a gentleman of leisure. As such, Anne was an especially charming debutante, but did not settle on a suitor until she met the "exotic" Akira in 1859. Kyou Matsumoto, Brother | Born in 1861, Kyou has always had high expectations thrust upon him by their father. He would have much rather remained in Japan and lived the life of leisure the Matsumoto name would allow him, but Akira had other plans for him. He is currently serving in his father's stead as the Japanese ambassador in London. Appearance: Yuki takes mostly after her father, with jet black hair, pale skin, and dark, almond-shaped eyes. She is slender but relatively tall, standing at five feet, four inches. Though her brother's position demands a certain amount of deference to Western styles, Yuki prefers Japanese kimonos in less formal settings. She is right handed. When crossdressing, she makes use of various spells to temporarily sharpen her features, deepen her voice, and shorten her hair to make her look more masculine and slightly older; she looks and sounds quite a bit like Kyou when she has fully become Ryouta. Her curves are scant enough that a simple chest binding is enough to make her figure sufficiently boyish for Western-style suits.   History: 1867 | Yuki is born in London. It is a difficult birth for Anne, and the healer advises against any attempts for more children. Previously vivacious and bold, Anne never quite recovers to her former standard of health and remains sickly for what remains of her life. 1870 | Anne passes away, though Yuki isn't old enough to remember it. Akira is heartbroken; beyond the characteristic veela glamour, he did genuinely love his wife. Kyou begins acting out in his grief, and remains headstrong and contrarian even into his adult life. 1871 | Akira takes a position back in the Japanese MoM and relocates the family to his homeland, in hopes that leaving England will allow him to better cope with the loss of his wife. Kyou begins attending day sessions at Mahoutokoro. 1873 | Yuki shows her first sign of magic when she forces a cherry blossom tree to bloom early. Kyou begins boarding at Mahoutokoro. 1874 | Yuki begins attending day lessons at Mahoutokoro. 1878 | Yuki begins boarding at school, a day she has long awaited! Though many of her fellow students shun her at first for her mixed heritage, she is far too stubborn to let something like that ruin this new chapter in her life. Before long, she makes friends out of sheer force of will. 1879 | Kyou graduates with only middling grades, much to his father's displeasure. He begrudgingly begins working in the Japanese MoM's equivalent of the Department of Magical Co-operation under Akira's watchful eye. 1882 | Though Yuki has always been rather popular with her male classmates, she never thought much of it. Even when her female friends start professing to fancy this boy or that one, Yuki never quite understood the fascination. However, one day she begins to see one of her roommates, Akiko, in a new light. After months of feeling tongue-tied and distinctly awkward around the girl, Yuki finally realizes that this must be what it means to fancy someone -- only she's attracted to the wrong gender! She never speaks of this to anyone, instead trying to quietly force her affections in the other direction to no avail. 1885 | Yuki graduates from Mahoutokoro with a coveted gold robe, a fact she is all too happy to rub in Kyou's face. After graduation, she and Akiko begin to grow closer, something that Yuki is privately entirely too pleased about. 1886 | The Japanese ministry is searching for a new ambassador to England, and Akira's influence sees Kyou appointed to the position. Father and son have an explosive row over it, with Kyou wanting to remain in Japan and Akira wanting to see his son follow in his footsteps instead of gambling and drinking away his youth. Meanwhile, Yuki and Akiko's friendship has blossomed into more than friendship. After another screaming match with Kyou, Akira storms out of the house and into the garden, where he discovers the pair of them in the midst of a passionate kiss. Infuriated with both his children and crushingly disappointed in Yuki, who he always thought beyond reproach, Akira orders both of them to travel to England or be disowned. 1887 | Kyou and Yuki arrive in England on New Year's Day. Kyou has been ordered to marry off Yuki as expediently as possible, but he finds himself disinclined to obey his father's wishes after seeing him turn so swiftly on his Golden Child and force them both off to a country they barely remember. The Matsumoto siblings agree to turn a blind eye to each other's predilections, so long as they both stay out of any real trouble. Kyou becomes a regular at The Painted Lady and the Irvingly Casino, while Yuki invents an alter-ego: Ryouta Yamada, a male translator traveling with Kyou on official diplomatic business. As often as she can get away with it, Yuki poses as Ryouta at balls, allowing her to flirt and dance with women without consequence. Her veela heritage complicates this, however, as there isn't any magic strong enough to subdue that intrinsic allure. Yuki isn't foolish enough to think she can keep up the farce forever, but she intends to make the most of it while she can. Personality: Headstrong. Creative. Cheerful. Flighty.
