    Afternoon

Tansy loved being at Hogwarts. It was the best place she knew, a place where the students were judged on their aptitude and not their monetary worth. She wore her plain school robes, as she walked the grounds looking for a place she could sit and study. She knew she was lucky, to be able to read when many lower-class children never had the opportunity. And she never took it for granted, taking every chance to read and study.

She would be someone when she graduated. Someone great, someone whose name was remembered for good things.

Eventually, she found a place to sit, cracking open her Earth Magic textbook and beginning to read aloud. It was the best way she could memorize - to recite the words upon the page. Her left fore and middle fingers traced below the words, so she didn't lose her place.

Solitude was her favorite place to study.

There were a lot of things that Alfie liked about Hogwarts. That was, after all, why he had chosen to stay for another year. The only thing that was sometimes frustrating, instead of missing Papa and Betsy sometimes was that he couldn't really do all the work that the other students could. He wanted to. He really did, but he couldn't. Not without being able to touch things.

A lot of the homework was with writing or books or wands, and when you couldn't hold anything, that was hard. He wasn't too sad that he couldn't do the writing, really. It looked like it could be hard. People had to write entire paragraphs and scrolls long of writing. He had just started writing sentences with Mummy when they had died! Some of the reading looked nice, though, even if the words seemed hard. He had practiced reading at the museum some over the years, so he was better at it than he used to be.

Still, he was always happy when he could find someone to read to him for homework, even if he couldn't end up writing about it. So, when, in the middle of floating through the greenhouses to look at some of the baby plants that screamed (he couldn't remember their names, because he hadn't been to that class this year), he heard a girl that he'd seen a few times, but didn't really know reading a textbook, he couldn't help but float over behind her and listen. It didn't sound like a class that he took, but maybe he should if people read out loud for it!

While Alfie is technically seventeen years old, he looks like he did at age seven, when he died...only, you know, more silvery grey, see through and floaty.

Nathan noticed first the spectral figure of a ypung boy, then the figure of a quite alive girl a few years older than himself reading unaware. Nathan, being a curious, overly happy, polite, and studious thing decided to walk up behind and greet them both. "Good day!"

Alfie jumped... or shook a bit in the air, he supposed, since he didn't have any ground to push off of to make it proper jumping, and his head snapped around to face the other boy who had suddenly appeared behind him. And he thought he was good at sneaking up on people! By that point, he had gotten rather well into listening to the girl read, and it took him a little while to get himself together enough to greet the boy back with a friendly (if ever so slightly put out) hello. He had so liked listening to the girl read, and was sad to hear it interrupted, but that was no reason to be rude.

"Oh, heavens!" Tansy exclaimed, closing the book reflexively, as the younger Ravenclaw greeted her - them, she realized, as she turned to see the young male ghost not too far from her. Her brown eyes widened incredibly. "I'm sorry," she instinctively apologized, before biting at her lip and standing up, hugging the textbook to her chest. "I was just out here studying. Reading aloud is...it makes it easier for me to keep track of the words."

She smiled broadly, taking a couple half-steps towards the two boys, though maintaining enough of a distance that they weren't close enough to touch. "I don't think we've met," she said with a soft tone. "I'm Tansy - it's short for Temperance." She really preferred Tansy - she'd been called such for so long, it may as well have been her proper name by now.

Alfie was quite used to startling people when he didn't mean to by now, so he hardly jumped when the girl suddenly exclaimed and snapped her book shut. He didn't really like to scare people, but at least she didn't run away or start swinging a frying pan through him, so that was something. She even introduced herself just like the boy had, and Alfie found himself smiling back at her.

"I'm Alfie. It's short for Alfred." He introduced back to her, copying her only a little bit, and only because he thought she might want to know his proper name if she wanted everyone to know hers.. "You don't have to be sorry. I like listening to things I study too. It's a lot easier since I can't open books.... or turn pages. I can read alright, though, except some of the books are hard." Bobby said it was just because he was dim, but he didn't believe him. She did read them really well, though...or at least, he thought she had. He hadn't actually been looking at the page, so he couldn't say for sure.

Nathan smiled more and waved to both. "I am Nathan, nice to meet you Tansy and Alfie! And I should be the one to appologize, I interrupted the two of you. I was just curious what it was you were reading." @'Tansy Abberton' @'Alfred Bott'
