      Claude,

I have not heard from you in a while, and I fear it may be my doing. Is all well? I know you cannot speak of work with me, but I am scared to think something ill has happened to you. I just want to see that you are still well. Please be well. Write me soon if you can.

      Love, Effie

    Dear Effie,

I must apologize, it is quite my fault for a lack in communication. Work has had me much busier than usual. I've been preparing for over a month now to travel. Starting on the first of next month, I'll be gone for several months most unfortunately. I'll be hitting several countries and regions to step in and work with ministries all over the world in their respective Mystery Departments. We do this every once in a while, check in to see progress other part of the world are making in different respects and it is my turn to do the leg work.

I apologize again, I've been alright, just busy. How have you been? It's been far too long since we've seen one another.

    Fondly,
    Claude

      Claude,

I had hoped that would be the case. Will you be able to write and tell me of the non-classified aspects of your trip? I love to travel, you see. I have lately thought of journeying to visit Bulgaria, but alas I shall not write about me. I wish you well, Mister Claudius.

I do agree with you; however, I seem to feel trapped in this house of my step-mother's. oh how I wish to spend the daylight hours walking outside without the overbearing attitude that chaperones provide. In this, I guess I suppose I miss some aspects of that dreadful expansion. Do you, Claude?

    Dear Effie,

I do enjoy the traveling when the time calls for it. Some day I'd like to do it of my own volition, rather than ministry-decreed. I should have plenty of time to write while I am go. I will look forward to your letters. I hope you get the chance to travel, it is quite the experience to visit other countries and cultures.

I often think about the freedom of being on the trail expeditions. We were both fortunate and unfortunate to experience that. This summer will be vastly different I imagine. I hope I am home in time to enjoy some of it in your company. I've asked my father not to concoct anything while I am gone, let's hope he obliges me.

    Fondly,
    Claude

      Claude,

I suppose we can only hope. I am in no rush to be married as I think most souls look down on me being so tall and cursed with my stuttering, as you know. I will write to you as frequently as I can, Claude. I hope to see you before the summer ends, and I hope you know I pray for your safety.

    Dear Effie,

I will be glad to receive your letters whenever you have time. My hope is to be home around the end of July. They say this should take about four full months. I can't say I entirely mind. I have never been a quidditch fan and I doubt I'll miss all of the QWC frenzy. Aside from you I have nobody to miss in town really either, so I suppose a little time away from home will do me good. I know that sounds a little harsh, but with most of my siblings in school, I hardly see them anyway. I make time for Seneca, my youngest sister, because she's still at home, but I'll send her letters and trinkets from the road.

Leaving in just a few days and I'm hardly packed, I should probably fix that. I'm off to Australia first, should be quite the adventure. I'm ready for a little sun I think.

    Fondly,
    Claude

      Claude,

I hope this letter finds you before you leave for Australia. Although, I do not know about how much sun you will be seeing. I hear that it is autumn there. But, it is freshly autumn and so summer weather could be present. But I will say you are lucky that you will not be here for the Cup. I am going to attempt to stay in Bulgaria for that period. Crowds make me even more nervous and I am scared of all those foreign wizards and witches appearing anyway.

But let me not wander too far away from propriety when I find that your last letter left me rather speechless involving how I shall be the only person you miss in town. It made me blush. Such words are quite improper, Claude. I guess this whole correspondence can be considered improper, though. Enjoy Australia!

    Dear Effie,

You letter arrived just as I was walking out the door, I didn't get a change to read it until this morning before work. It is quite indeed autumn down here, but even then there is sun is nice and warm.

I apologize if my last letter made you uncomfortable, that was not my intention.

    Sincerely,
    Claude

      Claude,

Fear not, Claude. Your letter made me smile, but just in case of letter scanning, we should be more careful. I wish that there were quicker owls... These letters will be infrequent at best.

I have decided to journey to Bulgaria at the end of the month to visit my brother who will be graduating from Durmstrang in May. I will write as frequently as possible, but my brother, Euan, is instructed to owl you if something unfortunate happens. I doubt it will and you and the only person who frequently speaks with me. I won't be missed too much. May this owl be swift.

    Dear Effie,

Fortunately for me, nobody here has any cares about what I do, so what my letters contain have no meaning for anybody else, but I understand what you're saying.

Bulgaria sounds like a nice escape from the quidditch nonsense at least for a little while. Congratulations to your brother on graduating. I hope nothing unfortunate happens in Bulgaria, it's not a particularly dangerous country as far as I know so I'm sure you'll be fine.

Nothing exciting in Australia so far, though I've seen some pretty spectacular creatures. I've never really been a creatures person, but they're simply fascinating.

    Fondly,
    Claude

      Claude,

Bulgaria is usually quiet, but yes, I shall be careful in my trip. Nothing ill will happen, least of all to me. I will return to Hogsmeade uninjured.

Father wants to leave together. We may be leaving earlier than normal. My one fear is that he could be seeking political alliances with powerful Bulgarian families for my sister Annag and I. I will not stand to be a political asset. I'm too old.

Are there colorful birds in Australia? I love birds. Could you possibly send a feather or two? How about flowers? I like flowers, too. Forgive me, I got carried away in my writing. Enjoy Australia.

    Dear Effie,

I'm sorry it's taken me so long to reply, things have been quite busy, the Australian Department of Mysteries has been stumbling over some good information and we've been working almost nonstop.

It is quite distressing to hear that your father may have those kinds of plans. I hope I'm not too late with my intentions for you by the time I return to Hogsmeade.

There are quite a few colorful birds here, including diricawls and jobberknolls. I have yet to see any, but I will ask around about feathers. I've included a few pressed flowers that I've been assured are not magical in any way. They some in such a wide variety of colors, I had no idea. I will also keep my eye out for more. I should be here another week or two before moving on. Enjoy Bulgaria.

    Fondly,
    Claude

      Claude,

I received your last letter but was unable to finally read it because we were running out to catch the carriage. I dislike portkey travel so we wanted a very small distance to go. We left for France and finally got there yesterday after utilizing some magic. We are arriving in Sofia tomorrow afternoon. I don't like the looks we've been getting since being put on a train in Paris and then in Vienna. Father doesn't believe my claims.

I do not want to marry some Bulgarian, not when I know that the idea is distressing to you so far away in Australia. Father has remained silent on the subject and I dare not chase it in fear that making alliances is exactly what he is doing. No one will want someone who stutters for a wife in Bulgaria... I hope.

The flowers are beautiful. The colors are so vibrant. I am glad you sent them to me. Where are you headed to after Australia?

      Love, Effie

    Dear Effie,

I would be quite distressed if you were to marry some Bulgarian. I can write to your father and explain myself? I'm not even sure how that would go over. I'm not even sure where I'm at in life. Sorry, I don't mean to sound so uncertain. I'm not unsure of you, but traveling has made me realize there's so much more beyond Hogsmeade. Who knows though, I'll probably get sick of it.

I apologize again, I don't know what's gotten in to me. I'll write a proper letter later, just wanted you to know I was thinking of you.

    Fondly,
    Claude

Mister C. Lestrange -- Department of Mysteries,

I am Leslie Turnbull and my daughter has kept correspondence with you and I would take this chance to inform you, with the heaviest of hearts, that my dear Euphemia is missing.

Her chaperone was found deceased a few days ago, her wand broken. We know not if Euphemia is taken for ransom or if she is dead. Euan, my son, will keep correspondence until further notice.

      Sincerely, L Turnbull

      Claudius,

You are the one she kept a journal of, yes?
