    Oliver Detheridge vs. Petra Sleptova

Antonius smiled when he saw that he would be moderating a second duel of Mr. Detheridge. He quite liked the boy, though he hoped that he would try a little bit harder on the second round. Miss Sleptova, on the other hand, was a talented student, so Antonius was sure that she would do some good displays.

He went through the rules and then turned towards the boy. "Mr. Detheridge, please start the first round."

He smiled as he looked towards his opponent. It meant he'd be aiming at a dummy and get to see a pretty display by his opponent. Even better he'd not have to worry about being hit by anything or loosing his wand.

Then he pointed his wand forward towards the dummy and attempted to transfigure it white. Then lowering his wand slightly he brought it upward attempting to transfigure the shape of the dummy into a snow man.

Pet had been very glad to win the first round - an early exit was just plain embarrassing - but she was a little dismayed to find her second opponent was yet again younger than her. He was a Ravenclaw, yes, but not the same age as her. Nevertheless, she still aimed to do her best. She chewed her lip for a moment as she thought of something to do. Finally, she had decided. Pointing her wand at the air in front of her, she attempted to make pretty snowflakes come out of her wand to go with Detheridge's snowman attempt.

Both displays were good. Not flawless, but good. He liked Mr. Detheridge's snowman, but he felt like it wasn't masculine enough. Aiming at a dummy could kill one's creativity, but there were many hexes and jinxes he could have used. Antonius wished Miss Sleptova could have done something more elaborate, but her options were limited so her display was a good one in his eyes. "The round goes to Miss Sleptova, who may start the next."

Pet smiled to herself at her first victory, it didn't mean she was going to win for sure but it meant she was close to it. The next spell she had chosen to do was a tricky little spell that was purely ornamental. The was a shadow being cast in the middle of the dueling area and Pet took aim and tried to transfigure it's shape from an odd blob shape to a little dragon that might fly around if she did it well enough. She'd read about such spells recently and tried it out a couple times but this was perhaps the most ambitious she'd been with it.

He wanted to set his snowman on fire. As that would be a cool contrast a fire and a snowman that wouldn't melt as it wasn't made of snow. The problem was he knew from trying during winter that he couldn't make a big fire like some older years could. Thankfully he was competing against a girl so it was as much about the display as it was the force.

So in order to get his display of fire he attempted to cast a series of bluebell flames towards the base of his snowman. Hoping the base would have bluebell flames rising from it in a contrasting display of fire and ice. Of course neither were were really fire and ice.

Both of the spells were well-executed, but Miss Sleptova's was a bit more. Antonius also found it more elaborate than Mr. Detheridge's, who's flames were succesful not that that thrilling. "The round and thus, the duel, goes to Miss Sleptova!" he declared happily.

    Sleptova: 10 | Detheridge: 9
