Her eye looked huge as she stared through the glass works of some assorted odds and end and she poked out her bottom lip and tried to decide if Una or Una's baby would like it. It didn't seem to have the right appeal for somebody like Una Pip decided and moved on to stare at something else.

Una, for all her flaws, was Pip's elder extravagant sister who'd gotten married to a Italian Grimaldi man and she deserved something, or at least Pip's first neice or nephew deserved something grand.

"What do you think of this?" She asked turning around to point it out to one of the people who had come with her from the isles for a spot of shopping. The glass itself was blown in proportions that only magic could support with bubbles floating above the top. The colours kept changing colours and so did the magnificent levels of the bubbles as you stared through them.

Some idiot had licensed Brutus to apparate. A Ravenclaw in the same year had been taunting him mercilessly that he would never be able to pass the apparition test without splendidly splinching himself to death. Brutus hadn't let that slide without taking a swipe at him and getting himself in detention again. Despite the detention, he had been extra determined to show everyone that he could apparate and using more brain power than he ever had in his entire life, had actually managed to do it. He'd scraped past the test but it was a pass all the same and while he'd probably splinch himself at a later date, June 8th, was not that date.

Feeling considerably smug about managing to pull off apparating to Hogsmeade, he'd then realized he didn't know why he'd gone in the first place. What was he going to do? Harry wasn't with him sadly and nor were any of his other Slytherin friends and his grandfather had (wisely) made it quite clear that he was not to side-long apparate with one of his sisters. Not that Brutus wanted to.

Bored, he had wandered into the nearest shop and began wandering around it aimlessly until he heard a vpoce. He looked up dimly from staring at the floorboards and glanced between the strange colorful object and the girl holding it. He knew her! He didn't know where he knew her from but he did. A few more moments of silent contemplation and he realized he'd seen her in the common room and in countless classes. He wasn't sure who she was talking to nor what she was holding but this moment of recognition made him walk up to her. "I know you," he pointed out dumbly, sounding rather pleased with himself for this feat.

She had turned around expecting one her aunts to be there and only glanced for a moment around the shop, trying to spot the auburn haired woman who had agreed to chaperone her today. She was flicking through a large book, a frown clearly present on her face that indicated that she was deep in thought.

She turned back to the older boy and tilted her head as she assessed him. He looked to be around Una, or Dunny's age.

"Probably," She said airly and shrugged and then stared at the device that was is in her hands.

"What do you think of this?" She asked pointing again at the device. "It's for my nephew, or niece.... I don't know yet... but what do you think?"

He stared at her some more, trying to remember what her name was and if even actually knew it or had heard it at any point. He wasn't having much luck.

The girl pointed down at the peculiar object in her hands and Brutus slowly looked downward, a frown spreading across his forehead. It was a very oddly shaped thing and he didn't really know what the thing was, come to think of it. "What is it?" he demanded, still staring at the thing quizzically and turning his head slightly as if looking at it from the side might enlighten him. Did it do anything? Did it perhaps light up or move or make noises? It was a very boring thing if it didn't.

It mustve had a name because all things had names, but at that moment Pip didnt really have a clue what that name was... and names rarely meant much to her anyway. It wasnt that Pip didnt care about the names of things (she did... sometimes care after all especially when she wanted to seem a little bit more intelligent then when she was) but there were so many things that were so similar that often she just grouped them under the title of thingy-mes, baubles, or the-thing-that-does etc. etc. She liked to call this the bubble thing that makes things look like they change size.

She didnt think that was what the boy meant. He stared at it like he was slightly dim and Pip decided that this was why she hadnt really paid attention to him before. He was probably a Quidditch player and shed always cheered for Gryffindor and been contrary in the past if shed gone to games (because it had been either Vina or Dunny whod played and family had always been more important to her then house because family was there for life). More often then not however she avoided them because even looking up at the players made her queazy, and it wasnt as if any of the players held a candle to her relatives in terms of attractiveness. They were so short, so skinny... even Dunny could break them like a twig and that was with one arm.

It was like they didnt make proper men outside her family.

“Its a bauble, though I think if you hang it above a babys cradle it could be something pretty...” She said, imaging a fairyland of a bedroom. She’d be the best aunt.

Brutus frowned slightly as he looked at the 'bauble' as she had called it. It was rather fascinating how the light seemed to catch in it a bit when he moved his head to a funny angle. "Yeah..." he agreed thickly, figuring the best thing to do was agree with her. "D'you have a baby then?" he asked, not really taking into consideration the fact that she'd been at school with him only a couple months ago and hadn't taken any long absences from classes or been expelled. It was more than fair to say that he was very unobservant.

"My mother had one once and died after," he announced quite willingly and seemingly with minimal sorrow. He missed his mother but he currently wasn't making the mental connection between what he was saying and his feelings though that wasn't wholly unusual, he rarely made connection with feelings other than the 'emotion' fight. Sometimes he felt others but he rarely felt anything very strongly besides anger.

This boy was very strange and she decided that something was very wrong with him mentally. She was quiet aware that she was not the brightest wand in the bundle but this boy was ... um... special in a way that made her want to stay far away just incase.

“It’s for my sisters child...” She ventured slowly, biting down on her lip and trying to ignore what he’d mentioned later because while Una wasn’t the nicest sister in the world the idea of her dying was almost inconcievable. Una couldn’t die. She was Una.

Death itself was probably afraid of Una.

“Umm...” She put the bauble down carefully and decided that Una probably wouldn’t want it anyway. Una liked expensive things and probably wouldn’t really be interested.

“I’m sorry about that.” She added feeling more then a little bit at a loss. She hoped her aunt would come and rescue her shortly because this boy made her feel more then a little bit scared of him.

Brutus was unaware that he was coming off as strange or odd to the girl, he thought he was being perfectly normal. By the time she said sorry, he couldn't really remember what it was for. "My name is Brutus," he stated, staring at her expectantly for some sort of reaction to this revelation. He cracked an awkward smile which disappeared as quickly as it had appeared. "I've seen you in the common room. I think so anyway..." He was quite sure he had, he could name her but he knew her face and while he wasn't certain, he had a good feeling about it.

He sniffed and looked at his feet for a moment, just kinda absorbing the silence as though it didn't bother him, which it didn't really. "D'you like quidditch?" he asked suddenly. Perhaps a part of his masculinity had figured out the right way to try and impress a girl but the more likely reality was a fluke, he was terrible at impressing girls and he had no idea he was terrible at it, only wondered at how Harry had two girls and he had none.

Where was her aunt? She tried not to look for her because that would be rude and smiled, if not weakly at the boy.

"I'm Sorcha, Sorcha MacFusty..." She added because it made her feel that much more safe and secure. Anybody who was anybody knew of the MacFusty's, even if it was as a class defying bunch of wild men who tamed dragons and was interested in such things that the upper class usually scorned them. Perhaps mention of them would make her feel safer around the boy because surely the giant men of her family were a deterrent for most people. She knew he'd mentioned the common room but she couldn't be sure she'd seen him.

She knew she probably would've dismissed him quickly.

"Uh... Quidditch? It's okay..." She had no real feelings for the sport though she had hated flying originally she was beginning to warm up to it. She'd always avoided school games because she'd never really known who to cheer for - Family or House, and knew that if she'd chosen family which was rather likely the glares from her housemates would've been to much. She liked the games that her cousins took her to well enough...

Brutus had heard the last name MacFusty but being somewhat slow, didn't connect it to dragons immediately, he knew it was familiar though.

"I'm a beater for Slytherin," he announced proudly, puffing out his chest slightly. He didn't know a great deal about girls or social expectations or really much of anything but he knew a place on the quidditch team was a boast-worthy achievement and she would surely appreciate that, right? It wasn't very often he got to boast seeing as he had rocks for brains but when he did, he was very happy to do so. He decided to grin at her, that was a friendly thing to do, wasn't it? He was so accustomed to brawling and the company of other males that behaving himself around girls wasn't easy for him as it was for others.
