Clarissa was utterly exhausted . The detention she had gotten for hexing that boy had been inhumane, she was sure. The young girl had been made to reorganize a shelf of books in the library and she had no idea how the librarian was still living. Trudging into the common room, Clarissa supposed she was just lucky that she had not been expelled for attacking a 'gentleman'. Waving a hand at it, the young Slytherin settled onto one of the many lounge chairs that filled the common area of the common room. Oh, it was such a relief to be off of her feet. Settling a bit back and getting comfortable, Clarissa massaged her delicate, aching hands that had rarely seen a full day of work. The only marks on her fingers were the slight signs of her being both an artist and player of the violin. Finding her eyes slowly dropping, Clarissa couldn't resist curling up on the couch. Soon enough, she was fast asleep, long, black hair fanning around her delicate, pale features.

The Slytherin Common was quiet when he got back, nose stuck in his book and not really paying attention to where he was going. Instead, Justinââ¬â¢s feet carried him in general direction of the comfortable lounge chairs which he knew were situated by the fire and thus, perfect for his current occupation. The book in question, Hogwarts, a History, so far proved to be a read of importance but not much interest, though he supposed it was always a plus to know fact from rumor. Thus, Justin hadnââ¬â¢t even noticed there was anyone else in the room, and promptly took the nearest chair that he believed was unoccupied.
Only when he realized he was not sitting on the chair did he look around and blinked in mild confusion, moving off what definitely did not belong to a chair, of all things. Knowing perfectly well that someone sitting on your legs entirely by accident was bound to wake you up, Justin hastily removed himself from the lounge chair into the other one, checking to see it was empty first of all and turning toward the occupied one with some curiosity. The girl in it was just small enough to be entirely missed upon entrance, and probably rather annoyed one if he paused to think about it. Unfortunately for him, it didnââ¬â¢t look like heââ¬â¢d get the chance to do so.

One moment she was enjoying a comfortable nap, the next a heavy weight was felt upon her legs. Sitting up in her startled state, Clarissa made what she believed to be a terrifying warrior cry though it was likely the last thing the noise she made sounded like. More like a kitten trying to imitate a lion. Raking her bright blue eyes over a boy that looked to be about her age, Clarissa stood at her full five feet. "How dare you attack me while I'm defenseless!" She cried in utter indignation as she aimed a well placed kick to his shin. Luckily for the boy, she was not yet allowed to wear heeled shoes, much to her dismay or he would be hurt much worse."And just what were you planning to do to me, brute?" She asked with her hands on her hips as she looked up at the taller housemate of hers. What an annoying day it had been for Clarissa. First made to do manual labor and then assaulted in her very own common room. Pushing her black hair out of her eyes, the girl waited to see what the so far unnamed boy had to say for himself.

Blinking in mild surprise as the girl let out what she probably thought was a terrifying roar, Justin cocked his head to the side, wincing a bit from the kicking. Well, the kick probably was well deserved, as he sat down without looking when he shouldââ¬â¢ve done so, but the reaction wasnââ¬â¢t exactly what he expected. ââ¬ÅNothing more was on my mind than finding a peaceful place to finish my readings,ââ¬Â he stated, as diplomatically as could be expected under the circumstances. He had no idea whether the girl thought she was terrifying, but he for one was holding back laughter with a valiant effort. Somehow he didnââ¬â¢t think laughing when the girl was obviously indignant was the best idea. Of course, being all of thirteen, controlling his expression was exceptionally hard to do when faced with something like this situation.

Indicating the book in his hands, he continued. ââ¬ÅUnfortunately it seems to be a habit of mine not to look where I go or sit, thus the incident. I believe I learned my lesson, as you have an extremely good aim with that foot.ââ¬Â Having relocated himself to the opposite lounge chair, hopefully safe from the girlââ¬â¢s heels, Justin curiously studied the girl herself. She was a bit short fir a third year, so he wasnââ¬â¢t going to guess at her age unless she informed him herself. However, right now, that didnââ¬â¢t seem to be the case that was going to happen.

Clarissa felt no remorse for her actions as her kick made contact and she witnessed the boy wincing. Smoothing out her skirts and making sure that she looked like the lady she was supposed to be, Clarissa took stock of the boy in front of her. "Oh books, I enjoy them as much as the next person but at the moment, I wish to never see another," she bemoaned as thought on what had been the most terrible experience for her. Clarissa then had to quirk an eyebrow as she noted the boy seemed to be holding back laughter. "And what, pray tell, is so amusing?" She demanded to know with her hands back on her hips as she looked up at the taller student. Clarissa did not look the least bit sorry as the boy stated that he had learned his lesson. In her opinion, the kick had been well deserved. "Good and thank you. I will take that as a compliment," she stated in a mightily haughty tone. "And you ought to watch that habit of yours, you could end up dead." She warned as the boy sat in the other chair and Clarissa sat back down on her own, absently noting the presence of one of the many chaperones for Slytherin girls.

Now he was definitely trying not to laugh at the girlââ¬â¢s bemoaning of her fate. It was rather amusing, after all, though he supposed that to a small one like she was, snuffling around the library trying to organize books wasnââ¬â¢t something like fun. And while she hadnââ¬â¢t said so outright, by looks of her she was same social class as him, so the words such as ââ¬Ëworkââ¬â¢ probably was rather unfamiliar. ââ¬ÅMy apologies, miss, but it does look quite amusing from the side, most likely, ââ¬Â he managed, glancing toward the chaperone himself and wondering why he wasnââ¬â¢t alerted to the presence of his fellow Slytherin in the first place. Surely the trouble wouldââ¬â¢ve been avoided easier.
ââ¬ÅI shall also take your advice for consideration as it might indeed save my life,ââ¬Â he continued in a highly amused tone that he was unable to stifle despite his best efforts. ââ¬ÅYou just never know what you might sit on. Imagine if it wasnââ¬â¢t a kicking girl but something a bit more dangerous, like a prank that could be activated by touch.ââ¬Â Imagining the consequences himself, Justin got more comfortable in his seat, amused at the girlââ¬â¢s haughty tone. ââ¬ÅBut I fear we missed the introductions, as tends to happen. Allow me to correct the mistake. Iââ¬â¢m Justin Adams.ââ¬Â Slightly bowing in his seat, he straightened up and curiously considered whether the late introductions would be able to steer the conversation into a slightly safer one than what was happening.

Clarissas temper was starting to simmer when the boy seemed to continue trying to hold back laughter at her. The young girl was certain that the chaperone was being lazy or else she would have been spared from the troubles she was now dealing with. Giving the most put upon sigh that she could manage, Clarissa made mental note of who the chaperone was. If the woman accompanied Hogsmeade trips, she would be an easy one to slip off from to go exploring instead. A smile of mischief briefly playing over her lips at the thought before she recomposed her mask of her proper lady-like nature.
Crossing her arms across her breasts as he continue speaking in that highly amused tone that was getting on her nerves, Clarissa resisted the urge to stick her tongue out at him. "Ooh, do you think such a thing is possible?" She asked curiosly, nose twitching as she imagined the fun she could possibly have if no one caught her at it. "Clarissa Cosgrove. A pleasure to make your acquaintance," she stated, bowing her head slightly as etiquette called for. "Your surname sounds vaguely familiar, by the way."

Justin finally managed to control his laughter, but snickered at the girlââ¬â¢s curious question. ââ¬ÅItââ¬â¢s possible, but one way to do it is to find out,ââ¬Â he suggested, wondering how they could do so.ââ¬ÅIââ¬â¢m not sure which ones shall work, but they would possibly cause chaos. Imagine finding a Fanged Frisbee, for example, instead of someoneââ¬â¢s legs.ââ¬Â A look of mischief slipped into his expression as easily as the laughter had been earlier, but he finally managed to control it. ââ¬ÅBegging your pardon, but the situation is too humorous not to laugh at it. A pleasure to make your acquaintance as well, Miss Cosgrove.ââ¬Â Now that he had the name to the pretty face, Justin thought she was familiar as well.
ââ¬ÅIndeed, so does yours. Are your family, perchance, an acquaintance of mine? They have quite a few and I find it difficult to keep track of everyone, especially since Iââ¬â¢ve been to Hogwarts most of the time.ââ¬Â It could be a curiosity that half the children of these acquaintances actually went to Hogwarts and he was uncertain whether he ran into them or not. Shrugging it off, the boy ran a hand through his hair, curiously considering the new acquaintance. The chaperonââ¬â¢s omission was also noted and the face stored for further reference. Exploring on his own was always a privilege, and few were this unobservant to allow the students the freedom, thus the memorizing. At least this time it should be easy enough to do.

Clarissa wondered a bit in curiosity about what sort of pranks could be played before feeling her eyes widening slightly at the mention of a Fanged Frisbee. "Oh, but wouldn't that possibly hurt them more than a mere, friendly prank would?" She queried with a slightly worried tone. She had never played with a Fanged Frisbee so she had no idea if they really did bite or not or if it hurt if they did. The young Slytherin had no desire to cause such harm but rather something that might have the person laughing once they were over their shock. Clarissa highly enjoyed being the cause of peoples happiness though she wasn't sure if it counted as such. Resisting the urge to snort when he said that the situation was humorous, she merely quirked an eyebrow.
"I have not the slightest idea, I do not know much about daddys business," she admitted. It wasn't something that interested her to know about so she had never asked about it. Perhaps she would in her next letter as well as asking where the name Adams sounded familiar from. Watching him as he ran a hand through his hair, Clarissas cheeks briefly went a light shade of pink against her translucent pale skin. "I do believe I will ask in my next owl to home. I feel I would recognize you if we had met before."

He hadnââ¬â¢t really considered the harmlessness until the girl mentioned the hurting the people part. Justin didnââ¬â¢t particularly like hurting anyone, so he reconsidered it easily enough.ââ¬ÅItââ¬â¢s as good example as any, and could have been present instead of you being curled up where you were,ââ¬Â he explained, wondering what they could use instead. ââ¬ÅHmm, that would be a bit difficult decision, though Iââ¬â¢m sure if we peruse the prank ideas, we may come up with something more or less harmless, aside for the unfortunate unobservant personââ¬â¢s pride,ââ¬Â he concluded, amusement in his eyes though mostly reined in by now. It was, after all, hard not to laugh at the possible pranks one could come up with while being a member of establishment that taught magic, such as theirs was. The possibilities were endless, or so he felt, and he could probably come up with something harmless but amusing to a vast majority of people, though it really depended on how observant the victim of the prank had been.

Deciding to put it off until he had some time to consider it, Justin gave a thoughtful nod in answer to her suggestion. ââ¬ÅI shall write my family, as well, perhaps theyââ¬â¢ll give us some idea to why we seem to be so familiar,ââ¬Â he confirmed. ââ¬ÅPerhaps it was one of the numerous events we tend to lose track about, but Iââ¬â¢m certain they shall confirm our guesses soon as they both can do so.ââ¬Â Decision made for the time being, he wondered a little at the reason for the girl being familiar. As far as he was aware, this was the first time he met Miss Cosgrove, though of course it was possible for him to be mistaken. Well, his parentsââ¬â¢ letter would probably inform him whether it was so or not.

Clarissa nodded as he said it was a good example and could have easily been in her place. Her ears and eyes perked up at the mention of we . "We? You mean you'll include me in your mischief making? Would that be proper though? People will think you're courting me," she snickered as she sat primly on her chosen seat. "You are my enemy for life after all. I have decided you are in consideration of the number of insults you have put upon me," she said with as much dignity as a thirteen year old could muster. He had sat on her and been on the verge of laughter ever since! He seemed to be quite the annoying individual even if he was handsome and seemed to have some good ideas.
"I am in agreement. It was probably one of many social events especially if you are a resident of Hogsmeade as I am," she stated, considering it was only plausible for children of their social class to have been bunched together a time or two.

Justin snickered as well, recognizing a challenge where he saw it. ââ¬ÅPerhaps I might, Miss Cosgrove, after all two heads think better than one, even if they are enemies of the highest order,ââ¬Â he concurred, noting the girlââ¬â¢s dignified response, though he was already attempting to plan some of those very pranks, given the mischievous expression on his face. He so loved annoying people, especially if they were being all proper. After all, everyone could do with some fun, though even he had limits to the pestering. There was, after all, a fine line between being a pest and having fun, though for now from what he could see this girl could use some of it. So far, however, she proved to be a highly amusing character, at least in his eyes.

Humming in agreement with the girlââ¬â¢s words, he tipped his head to the side. ââ¬ÅYes, I live in Hogsmeade with my parents, so perhaps that was that. Of course they might consider us not worthy of information just yet, as it may distract us from our learning.ââ¬Â Making the best impression of his fatherââ¬â¢s tone of voice, Justin rolled his eyes, honestly tired of being considered beneath being informed of whatever his parents planned for him. While he tried finding out as much as he could of his parentsââ¬â¢ involvement in society, sometimes it was harder than saying Quidditch and playing the sport, so he often wasnââ¬â¢t bothering. After all, as his father often said, he would find everything out sooner or later, either case.

Was he mocking her? She wasn't sure but she perceived it that way. Especially since he had the most mischievous expression on his face that she had ever seen. And damn him, was it attractive. Ugh, where was that thought coming from? It only served to make her more irate. Listening to him as he spoke, she slightly shrugged. It wasn't an immediate concern for her to know what relations their family possibly had with one another. Clarissa had no interest in whatever business dealings her father had. "I am sure it is of no concern. There is likely plenty of other students here that our parents deal with but we're not aware of," she decided before deciding that it was high time she found herself somewhere else to be. This had been the most annoying encounter and she found herself experiencing the oddest sort of emotions she had never experienced before. Merlin knew that she had never been one to find a boy handsome or attractive as she seemed to find Justin, which only made her more annoyed with him.
"While this ... encounter ... has been most fascinating I have more important things to do. Like napping where attractive Slytherins won't sit on me," she stated, before blushing as she realized what she had just said. "Curse you, Justin Adams!" She declared as if it was his fault that she was attracted to him before storming off to the girls dorms.

Shrugging and deciding that it really was none of his concern just yet, the teen gave the girl a look of sheer amusement as she prepared to make her exit in rather dramatic fashion. ââ¬ÅA pleasure to get to know you as well, Clarissa Cosgrove,ââ¬Â he called into the girlââ¬â¢s retreating back before finally giving in to the fit of laughter heââ¬â¢d been holding back all this while.

The letter to his father, however, was kept well in mind until such occasion was called for, and he was going to make sure that he would be able to deal with the arrangement, if any, that was made. Perhaps there was some fun to be had in the encounters with his peers, especially if they were hissing girls who found him attractive despite their best efforts, what he was sure of. Ruffling his hair, he gave a grin at the entire encounter and moved to walk off in entirely different direction from the one the girl had taken. There were things he needed to do and he wonââ¬â¢t get them done if he kept loitering in the common room with his nose in a book, much though he wished it was otherwise.
