    Appearance:
    • Standing at a taller height of 5'11", Orpheus has always had a dark and intimidating air to him. His features are hard and angular, hair and eyes almost unnaturally dark and skin paler than should look natural with his dark coloring. He is neither too slender nor too muscular, instead balancing a happy medium and is what he considers exceptionally good looking. He is always dressed extravagantly in dark clothes and wields all quills, weapons and the like in his right hand naturally.
    History:
    • 1739 | Orpheus is born to the exceptionally wealthy von Essen family of Germany, the first child and only son that will be borne of the family. He is immediately given a silver spoon for his mouth, so to speak, and never left wanting for anything. From a young age he gains a sense of entitlement and superiority that may or may not be misplaced, of course he refuses to believe that the former could be true.

1741 | Megaera is born. At only two years old, Orpheus expresses his first bit of magic by making the mobile over her crib move as he rests in his nanny's arm as she overlooks the sleeping babe. Of course, the movement causes it to fall on Megaera but no one can dare believe that the toddler had any viciousness in his heart when that happened.

1744 | Persephone is born. Orpheus is five years old and decidedly against the idea of having siblings. He is scolded many times for antagonizing Megaera and doing away with her dolls but he does not relent. The von Essen's believe their son spirited and are not overly strict with him despite his misbehavings.

1747 | Cassiopeia is born and Orpheus - aged eight - thinks her a weird looking thing but seems a lot less disdainful of her than Megaera or Persephone. Her birth, however, brings the death of his mother. Through the years Orpheus has continued to antagonize Megaera and even Persephone though to a lesser extent. He has, however, gotten much better at disguising his misdeeds and as such his caretakers and parents do not notice that he his awfully mean to his younger siblings.

1749 | Tragedy befalls the von Essen family when Megaera is found dead in the room of a servant. It is immediately thought that said servant was the one who mutilated her body and killed her and he is killed for his crime. Unbeknownst to the family it was Orpheus who committed the crime after finding the knife in the servants room and inviting Megaera to play with him up there.

1750 | As he turns eleven this year his parents begin looking at prospect for schooling. They consider moving to the United Kingdom to send him to Hogwarts but after much asking he is able to convince them to send him to Durmstrang the following year when he is of the appropriate age.

1751 | By September he is leaving to go to Durmstrang. He is eager to spread his wings and leave his home in Germany and finds himself easily able to find a group of friends in Durmstrang. He takes very easily to the classes and expresses control over his magic that is indeed very impressive.

1752-1758 | His school years pass with him proving his skill with magic all the way. It isn't far into his schooling career that he develops - and nurtures - an interest in the dark arts. He finishes school with many career opportunities and acquaintances under his belt. After school he begins working for the German Ministry of Magic.

1758-1767 | He makes a name for himself as an Unspeakable in the Ministry of Magic and by his twenty-eighth birthday he is married to a young woman by the name of Elisabeth. It is a marriage of convenience and nothing more though his wife seems fond of him, a fact that immensely pleases him.

1768 | His first child is born and he names her Lillith. He is displeased that his wife did not bear him a son and heir but is pleased enough to have a daughter to dote upon as a little angel. She will be the princess of his world, he determines, and she is given everything she could ever want in her childhood.

1773 | His second child is born, another daughter, and the thrill of having an angel is long gone and reserved for Lillith. He tells his wife that she better pray for a son the next time around and is very displeased. Needless to say, Melisandre is not given the same amount of doting that Lillith is.

1774 | Orpheus has been ever entranced by the increasing beauty and innocence of Lillith. Always having been something of a daddy's girl, she does not fight when he undresses her and does things to her young body that should be reserved only for a wife. This physical relationship is maintained by Orpheus feeding the child lies and promises of him taking her as his wife and giving her the world when she is grown. The girl, loving her father, believes the falsities and allows him to do as he will because of her love for him.

1775 | Having always dabbled in the Dark Arts and many numerous dangerous spells, potions and the like, Orpheus is intrigued when he hears of a way to achieve immortality. It is through the grapevine and he knows not how to do it but intends to find out. He scours books and sources to find out what a horcrux is exactly and how to utilize it. Immortality does, after all, appeal to him.

1779 | After years of enforcing sick ideas into his daughter's head in order to use her young body to his desires, Lillith becomes increasingly jealous of her mother and repeatedly brings up the idea of telling her mother so that she will leave and her father and her can live "happily ever after". It is a child's fancy that Orpheus cannot allow to happen for he is not willing to deal with the consequences of his action. He arranges for an "accident" to befall Lillith that kills her, swiftly dealing with any problem she may have posed.

1782 | He becomes ever closer to his goal of immortality, finding more and more information on the horcrux and begins planning what he shall do when the time comes. He will start his life anew, he's decided, and will be even better than before.

1785 | Finally he knows how to make a horcrux and comes to the decision that his wife and daughter will be the lives he sacrifices to create two of them. He murders his wife and does the spell, making the first horcrux out of his family ring that is always on his hand. His daughters death create a horcrux out of a marble bust that he keeps in his home warded against damaging. He is able to fabricate stories behind their deaths and manages to get away with their murders. He moves to Bulgaria to escape his old life.

1791 | After six years in Bulgaria he marries a widow who is the mother of two young children. He marries her, of course, to get to the little angels she calls children and use their bodies to satisfy his sick pleasures. The seven year old twins are very beautiful, he thinks and after a year of marriage he gets rid of his wife by orchestrating her murder. He is able, however, to get away with it completely.

1800 | After nine years with Stefan and Tatiana, he decides that they have grown too much to be very pleasurable to him. Brainwashed to do whatever it is that he wants, he manages to get them to take their own lives - promising to meet with them in the afterlife - though this is a lie. The twins jump from the roof of his manor, leaving behind letters filled with falsities behind their demise. He has no intentions of following them to death. After their deaths, he moves to Italy.

1809-1819 | He works for the Italian Ministry of Magic as an Unspeakable. Just as with in Germany, he excels in his career. During his time in Italy he resumes his devious delights by luring children to him and obliviating them afterward. He takes in orphan children, as well, and takes what he will before disposing of them. This continues for a decade as he moves around Italy. By 1819 he moves back to Germany.

1820 | He adopts a five year old by the name of Selma. Of course it is not the promise of fatherhood that lures him to her but instead his own attraction to her childish body. He treats her innocently enough for the first year but when she turns six years old he starts claiming her body just as he's done with countless children before her.

1824 | His nine year old daughter is getting older and he begins looking for a replacement for a few years down the line. He adopts a toddler name Beatrice and pays a nanny to watch over her while he gets his pleasures from Selma while she is still what he desires.

1829 | He gives Selma, aged fourteen, to an acquaintance of his to wed and do with as he pleases. The "acquaintance" leaves Germany and he never hears from the young woman again. Not that he cares, Beatrice is by now seven years old and ready for him to begin playing with at his leisure.

1835 | At the end of the year, Beatrice aged fourteen, gives birth to a daughter that is the result of her and Orpheus's coupling. She sees the baby and names her Karina before dying a few days after because of complications. Orpheus is displeased that he allowed her to give birth to the child when it kills her. Karina lasts only two days before dying, having been born too early.

1838 | As a payment for a deed he did for someone who was unable to pay, he is given the thirteen year old Emilie Leonidas to be his wife. He marries her shortly after her fourteenth birthday and though her body is quickly aging, she is pretty enough in the face and tight enough between the thighs to pleasure his needs. He still, however, brings children in an out to suit his craving for more youthful flesh. Nevertheless, Emilie is a simple girl who caters to his every whim. He is pleased enough to have her around.

1843 | Emilie kills one of his children in a fit of jealousy. The girl is seventeen years old and realizing that her husband is less and less pleased with what she has to offer. He punishes her severely for the acts but keeps her around as her loyalty is something he finds he can utilize when disposing of the children he plays with and acquaintances that need handling.

1844 | Emilie gives birth to his first son, Jean. He is pleased to have an heir and as the boy grows he is given everything he could possibly want. As the boy grows older he is taught more and more of the dark arts and Orpheus molds him to be very much like himself.

1852 | Orpheus is slightly taxed by the idea that Emilie has died giving birth to a daughter that he names Joceline. It is at his disadvantage that Emilie is dead but there is little he can do. He continues nurturing his son to be just like himself whilst leaving the care of his daughter entirely in the hands of house elves.

1855 | He sends Jean off to Durmstrang. He is pleased with his son and how very much like himself he is. It is, of course, a narcissistic pride. Orpheus is prideful knowing that he's made a perfect replica of himself. His son tries very hard to please him and he is proud of that.

1862 | His son graduates Durmstrang and has turned into a man very much pleasing to Orpheus. Joceline, now ten years old, asks if she will be attending Durmstrang the following year. Orpheus has instilled in her as well an interest in the Dark Arts but has not worked on her as intensely as he has Jean. He says she will be able to go on the premise that she's good.

1866 | At the age of fourteen Joceline leaves school to get married. Orpheus moves to Russia and maintains contact with Jean and to a lesser extent Joceline. He views them more like minions than actual children or family and feels no love for them but more so talks to them to fuel his pride. He is at a circus where he lures a young performer to his home, only to be followed and return to her having been killed by another, older contortionist by the circus. Events unfold and he ends up keeping the Russian doll in place of the one she stole from him.

1866-1883 | [Ellie's Girl] and Orpheus stay together for years. While she is older than he usually prefers, her vampirism and skills as a contortionist keep him pleasantly interested in her as does her devotion to him. He keeps her around as a pet and takes her with him when he moves to Hogsmeade, Scotland, in the beginning of November.
