Appearance: Prosper is thin and tall, standing at 6'2" with a somewhat bony appearance and a very pronounced facial structure with high cheekbones and a long, pointed nose. He carries himself with an air of unyielding pride, ignorant to what others think of him. He's always dressed neatly and, though his clothes may not always be of the latest fashions, he puts effort into his appearance and tries hard to be at least passably fashionable. His dirty blond hair is of a medium length, combed back to minimize the volume of it. His sharp, blue eyes are shaded by a low brow that always seems to be pulled into an expression of concentration or anger. He is right handed.
History: Prosper was born in a small wizarding village in the Cotswolds, England, and remained there until he was eleven. He grew up in an upwardly mobile family desperate for the glamor of the upper class but falling just short. Still, he was pampered and his needs were placed first, especially by his father. His father had gone into politics after leaving Hogwarts many years prior to the birth of his son, choosing to align himself politically with the rich in hopes of winning their vote. However, his interpretation of the beliefs of the rich were somewhat outdated and he was quickly branded as an extremist. His political alignment rubbed off on his young son, who grew to believe that Muggle-borns and half-bloods were inferior to pure-blooded witches and wizards.
As a child, a kitten had been given to Prosper as a gift. He was thrilled with it initially but soon became upset with its tendency to run away. His solution to this problem was to hold the creature as tightly as he could when it attempted to escape, succeeding in accidentally killing it. His first instinct was to dispose of the evidence, which he did by digging a small hole in the garden outside of his home and burying the kitten there, marking it with a loose cobblestone from the road. Since then, he's had an extreme fear of death and would do anything to stave it off. In the later years of his education, this led to an interest in alchemy and the creation of the Philosopher's Stone.
On the year he turned eleven, Prosper eagerly made his way to Hogwarts. His sorting was almost a hatstall, taking more than three minutes while the Sorting Hat deliberated whether he should go to Slytherin or Ravenclaw. It was eventually decided that he didn't have the cunning or the power for Slytherin and so it was decided that he be a part of the Ravenclaw house. His narcissism and sociopathic tendencies were mild at such a young age and, though he didn't gather very many friends, he didn't have very many enemies, either.
Due to their location, the Giles family was relatively unaffected by the wizarding diaspora of 1877. Prosper, who was a second year at Hogwarts at the time, personally found the event rather dreadful, if only because it meant that Muggle-borns and half-bloods would be finding their way to communities where the "upper echelon" of magicfolk were already living. He made sure that his opinion on the matter was known by all and other students quickly gathered under their mutual dislike of him.
Since then, Prosper has mostly been a lone wolf of sorts. He doesn't deliberately avoid other people but people deliberately avoid him. He has very few friends and a staggering amount of enemies. He wraps himself up in his studies instead of interacting with other students when he can and, as a result, he passed most of his OWLs with flying colors and hopes to do the same with his NEWTs.
Personality: Though he had been placed in Ravenclaw, Prosper is anything but wise; he's extremely stubborn and stuck in his ways and beliefs, even when it offends people or otherwise causes them pain. On top of that, he's spoiled rotten and easily angered, flying off the handle at any small provocation and quick to insult anyone that he has deemed inferior. He's very book-smart and places a great amount of importance in intelligence, however, and it has come to the point where he simply doesn't tolerate "stupidity". This clashes with his very traditional beliefs in blood purity and a woman's role in society. He believes that he is vastly superior to most others at Hogwarts and tries his best to wriggle into the social circles of the upper class, hoping that he'll be able to use them as connections for his future political career. Aside from a few like-minded individuals, his efforts are mostly fruitless; because of his vanity, cockiness, and bigoted beliefs, he is generally disliked. He is especially disliked among his own house, if not for his personality than because he's frequently having points deducted from Ravenclaw for instigating fights and for whatever physical and emotional damage may result from his hysterical fits.
Despite his beliefs that a woman should be at home cooking and sewing instead of learning, he shows a healthy interest in girls. The problem is that most are repulsed by him and, in the slight chance that they aren't aware of his reputation, quickly find him impossible to tolerate. He's even confused as to why girls don't find him appealing. In his narcissistic mind, he's everything that a young lady could ever want, even when he sneers at them and treats them as objects. He sees women as inferior beings and is extremely displeased whenever a woman talks down to him, even teachers, and he has no objections to becoming physically violent toward a girl that he believes is "out of line".
Patronus: Unknown, though not for a lack of trying. When attempting the charm, he was only able to produce a non-corporeal Patronus after many attempts, which caused him to throw a tantrum and quit studying the charm.
Boggart: The plot of grass marked with a large rock in the garden of his childhood home
Amortentia: Burning wood, bacon cooking, damp cobblestones
