Appearance:
Oliver has always been affectionately described as a beanpole. He stands at 5' 8" with a slender, gangly build. He has dark chestnut hair that mostly has a mind of its own and warm, chocolate brown eyes framed by a strong brow. Naturally tanned skin means he can get away with the occasional bright splash of color in his wardrobe, but he generally keeps his clothing simple and his face clean-shaven. His nose is slightly crooked from a run-in with a Bludger in his third year, but aside from that is mostly unscathed from his antics with the Cete. He is left-handed.[/list]
History:
THE TRASKS: James was born into a Muggle family, but it soon became clear that he was not an ordinary boy and was sent to Hogwarts when he turned 11. Always thirsting for adventure ever since he discovered his powers, he became a Curse-Breaker after graduation and traveled the world in search of rare wizarding artifacts, though he maintained a small home in the outskirts of London between jobs. He met Rosa Patton, a Mediwitch, through his multiple stays in St. Mungo's, and the two became enamored with each other and married in 1866.
1867 | Oliver is born. James's respectable income allows Rosa to remain at home with their new son, though he is often absent due to his work.
1869 | Oliver's sister is born, though he isn't old enough to really appreciate the addition of a sibling.
1872 | Oliver's brother is born. Now that Oliver is older he is excited at the prospect of having another boy to play with. Oliver also displays his first act of magic: he causes his father's suitcase to disappear in order to prevent him from leaving on another assignment.
1874 | After a particularly nasty curse backfires, James's leg is injured and he is given a temporary desk job, allowing him to stay at home for a year to recover. Despite the circumstances, Oliver is overjoyed to have his father at home for a time, and is always at his side asking for stories of his adventures. The Trasks also bring in a tutor to begin educating the children, and Oliver proves to be exceedingly bright. In fact, he becomes bored with the tutor and begins to come up with his own lessons in his spare time.
1877 | In the wake of the backlash against wizarding folk, the family flees their village before they are revealed to be wizards and relocates to the up-and-coming town of Hogsmeade. Oliver is excited to have a new town to explore. Meanwhile, the family begins to suspect that his younger brother is a squib.
1879 | Oliver receives his Hogwarts letter and is sorted into Hufflepuff, though the hat strongly considers Ravenclaw. He quickly makes a small group of friends in his year, including a girl who insists on joining in their boyish hi-jinks. Oliver doesn't quite understand it, as his mother was always a "proper" middle class lady, but enjoys her company all the same.
1880 | Oliver's sister receives her Hogwarts letter and is sorted into _____. Meanwhile, James begins receiving mysterious letters about a certain artifact he uncovered during an excursion in Egypt the previous year. The letters go unanswered, though James begins to fear for his family's safety.
1882 | The family's suspicions are confirmed when ____ is not invited to Hogwarts: he is a squib. James decides to move the family to Irvingly after the agreement is struck, in hopes of avoiding the strange, vaguely threatening letters that he still occasionally receives. He leaves his job as Curse-breaker and instead begins writing novels inspired by his travels under the pen name Harry Ford. They become moderately popular among wizarding circles.
1883 | In June of this year, a seedy-looking stranger appears in the small town of Irvingly asking after James Trask. On June 15th, the town awakens to find the Trask home burned to the ground, with no trace of the perpetrator to be found. Thankfully Oliver and his siblings were all visiting friends at the time, but the three of them are plunged into a deep depression. Their cousins-by-marriage on their father's side, the Dursleys, are contacted and persuaded to move to Irvingly in order to allow Oliver and his sister to finish their education. His uncle, Mr. Dursley, then opens the Church of St. Fergus, dedicating it to his late relations.
1884 | Oliver has slowly learned to cope with the sudden loss of his parents, though he still suffers bouts of depression and anger over the fact that the arsonist was never found. He has resolved to become an auror after graduation and do his part in protecting others from the same fate... and perhaps search for his parents' murderer, if the opportunity arises.

Personality:
Brilliant | Oliver has always been incredibly intelligent for his age; in fact, his parents were shocked when he was not sorted into Ravenclaw. In his younger years he often grew bored in lessons and earned a reputation as a bit of a class clown, but as he has grown older he has become more subdued and focused while retaining his wit. Despite his intelligence, he does not look down on others if they come to him for help, and often finds himself helping others with their classwork.
Hard-working | Once Oliver has a goal in mind, he will never stop working until he achieves it. This, coupled with his natural intelligence, sees him at the top of nearly every class. He often sacrifices sleep and meals in order to fit in his studies and his social life, but thrives on the activity. Even if he allowed himself free time, he wouldn't know what to do with it.
Loyal | Oliver deeply values his relationships with friends and family, and will go out of his way to help and protect them without a second thought. He often puts others' needs before his own, which can result in exhaustion and burn-out, but he keeps such feelings to himself in order not to worry his loved ones.
Secretive | Though he presents a composed facade to the outside world, internally he is still wounded from the loss of his parents. He bottles up his emotions in order to be the support for his siblings and friends, and it can take a toll on his mental health. He harbors vengeful thoughts towards the arsonist who killed his parents, and still dwells on the event, often having nightmares and losing sleep over them.
