    Miss Desdemona Collins-Potter,

I am so, so sorry for the loss of your father and grandfather. Please let me know if there's anything I can do. I hope that you're safe?

    Mr. Pettigrew,

It is very kind of you to think of me during such hectic times. Your words of condolence are appreciated very much indeed.

I must apologize for my delay in reply; we have been entertaining family that I was not even aware we possessed, which I suppose takes up much of my time. At least there is something that the lack of quidditch is good for: social obligations are much more easily met without scheduled practices to contend with.

I, so far, have been fortunate in my good health. My mother and siblings appear to be similarly blessed, and so I am optimistic—or perhaps merely hopeful—that the sickness has taken all that it will from us. London does not appear to be quite so hard-hit as Hogsmeade, or even Irvingly, so this may yet hold true.

This letter brings with it the hopes that you yourself are well, and that your mother is similarly in good health.

I wish you luck with your surprise extended family! It always seems that people turn up in droves when terrible things happen. It's probably a gossip th I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

I'm glad to hear that you and your remaining family are well! I've been starting to think that I myself should have gone to London but I was too though it's probably too late best that I stay here now.

My mother is well, mercifully and I well so fun story send help. I am hopeful that my own health will clear up shortly.

    Mr. Pettigrew,

I do find your letter to be troublingly cryptic, and I hope you do not mind my saying so. Am I comprehending you correctly when I suggest that you have caught the laughing sickness? If that is the case, I implore you to put down your quill at once! I am not at all worth the expenditure of energy—energy you shall sorely need if you are to get well again!

Are you, then, in Hogsmeade? I am sure that, if you are, my sister knows a sound healer who might see to you. Please take care of yourself, Arth Mr. Pettigrew.

You have, actually, interpreted my vagueties correctly. The lack of sleep seems to be good for my energy, though, and I hope it comforts you to know that I have been eating and plan on making my way to the Infirmary as soon as possible if this continues.

I've actually gotten myself stuck in Irvingly which is a whole other issue. But I'd hate to worry you too much; please don't concern yourself overmuch with me!

    Mr. Pettigrew,

If you will consent, I should be happy to have my sister look in on you. She is a healer and resides in Irvingly—and I confess that I am not comfortable to take your word for your health. To lose my father and grandfather was indescribable; to lose my friend and captain on top of that would be horrific. Whether you allow Mrs. Porter to see you or no, however, I do think it would be in your best interests to remain abed. Or, if not in your interests, than in those of the community to whom you might spread the disease.

    Please take care of yourself.

If your sister does not mind, I am very willing to see her. I've been staying in the Irvingly Arms, room seven, though if she does not wish to visit an admittedly not-perfectly-respectable location I can try to get somewhere else though that may not be in the best interests of the community at large.

    Stay well, please.

    Mr. Pettigrew,

Mrs. Porter has told me she will be to see you this afternoon. I do not know if my letter will arrive before my sister, but I did at least try to warn you. You need not worry about the propriety of the matter; she is a fully qualified healer checking on a patient—no one could think anything untoward.

Your warning arrived in time, don't worry! I imagine that your sister may be more capable of elaborating on my condition than I am; I just wanted to let you know.

Your sister is nice; I suppose that I should have known that she would be because you're nice, but she is. She's the one who got married recently, right?

    Mr. Pettigrew,

You do me a kind service by remembering our talks of my family and calling me kind, particularly given your current circumstances. Mrs. Porter is, indeed, only newly thusly named. It was not the most comfortable of ceremonies, but I do not think it necessary to tire you with details.

My dear sister assures me that you seem unlikely to die, so there is at least that much to be thankful for.

Your sister is a very smart woman; my fever broke this morning, which is a good sign if I've ever seen one. I cannot thank you enough for everything.

    Mr. Pettigrew,

I assure you that I have done nothing that would require your thanks, though if Irvingly wishes to thank me from sparing them your contamination, I shall reluctantly, but willingly, accept. That I shall not be attending your funeral any time soon is enough thanks for me; do try to keep it that way.

If Irvingly had a mayor, I would be alerting him to give you a medal. I am only joking a little bit.

I shall do my best not to get into too much trouble. (Famous last words?)

    Mr. Pettigrew,

Please do more than your best, for I fear even the most ambitious of your efforts risks falling short. It should be very inconvenient indeed if the quidditch season were to resume just as our captain falls to his death (or similar).

I promise to stay away from flag poles, goblins, large boulders, and tall cliffs. I would surely hate to leave you all Captainless - if I'm going to die it's not until we Howlers have at least managed to wriggle our way out of tenth place next season.

(At least we're better than Ballycastle.)
