Appearance: Appearing roughly twenty-six years in age, Natalie is the perfect replica of her twin sister, Magalie. Or at least, the would be were her hair the same golden hue. Natalie is of average height and in possession of a desirable figure. Her hair is a deep, red color which she is almost certain was reddened somewhat after her transformation, though this is likely a trick of the mind... Or the result of a good hair washing. She can usually be seen clad in the attire of a maid when working, though like her sister, they save their money for expensive clothes which they like to wear for their own amusement because they long for the lifestyle they felt they were destined for but were denied.
History:A pair of twins were born to a wealthy French family in the spring of 1780. Little was unusual about their arrival in the world, except for the fact there were two of them. Their life was normal as far as wealthy French nobility went. They had a good quality of education, all the toys and gifts their little hearts could desire and pretty dresses to look the part too. This life continued until the girls were nine years of age.
1789. The air was thick with the talk of revolution, overthrowing nobility and the monarchy. Many thought it would blow over, Eustache Mortagne hoped so, though as the year progressed, it became apparent that it was more than an idle fantasy of commoners. July 14th, the Bastille was stormed. Many still were confident the nobility couldn't fall. Later that month, their grand family home was attacked by the people of the neighboring villages. They were successfully fought off but the family was shaken.
The family managed for another 4 years, keeping the peasant folk at bay but their wealth began to dwindle as the King lost power. The girls were thirteen years of age when the King Louis XVI was executed and the Reign of Terror began. Nobility were being guillotined without trial and blood stained the streets of Paris. It was near impossible to escape the country but Eustache Mortagne managed to find away to secure safe passage for his daughters. At recommendation from a trusted friend, he sought the help of a mysterious individual. Paying him dearly, he gave his daughters into the man's care. Within twenty four hours, Natalie and Magalie were orphaned while they had been safely smuggled out of France.
It didn't take long for the two young girls to realize that the man their father had entrusted their care to, was different. Moody and secretive, moving only at night and never eating before them, they soon discovered he was a vampire. It was an accident that they discovered it. The girls had been asleep when the vampire - they had come to know him simply as 'Monsieur Renouart' - returned to the small rented rooms they were staying in, in Belgium, with bloodstains upon his clothing. The girls had not taken much of liking to their mysterious carer, he seemed irritable at best and reluctant to be hampered with them though the money, he had told them, had been too good to resist. Having pestered him with questions, he finally revealed to them that he was in fact, a vampire. The headstrong, girls were not terribly frightened by the revelation - they had in fact been imagining all sorts of wild ideas but they were somewhat more wary of him.
They stayed in his company for a a year, though as they turned fourteen and began to turn into young women, he looked at them less as annoying children. The girls were reasonably well cared for - he bought them pretty dresses when they needed, they never went without food and so far had not been required to pay him back for his generosity. Eventually, his kindness came to an end and he declared their father's request filled and he felt free to do with them as he pleased. Being stubborn and strong willed as they were, they had rebelled - much to his extreme fury - and fled. Due to a stroke of fortune (or perhaps he had let them escape), they got away unharmed though they had no money and no possessions other than the clothes on their back.
Dragging her exhausted sister along with her, Natalie was determined to find safety and somewhere to stay. Fortunately, an old woman was in need of a maid and was kind enough to take two for the price of one. Renouart didn't turn up the next day, or the next day, or the next day to find them which they were both surprised at - he had always seemed the type to find and collect what he wanted. Eventually settling into their new lifestyle, they didn't mind it at first as they were just glad to be in different company and away from the vampire. It didn't take long, however, for them to become discontent with their setting. Neither sister liked the life of a servant.
They were employed by the old woman well into their fifteenth year of age, until mid-July when the Natalie did not smooth the carpet at the top of the stairs properly. The old woman, having grown quite frail, managed to lose balance and fall violently to her death. Realizing she had inadvertently killed their employer, Natalie urged Magalie to leave with her at once to escape the city. After all, who wanted to be charged with murder?
Their lives continued in this fashion - changing from employer to employer, city to city. The sisters learned all sorts on their travels - the art of seduction but more importantly, and perhaps more sinister, the art of the perfect crime scene. The two became corrupt in the pursuit of money as they robbed the houses of their employers and found various methods of killing, from poison to stabbing. Meanwhile, they grew fearful of Renouart as signs of his reappearance were quickly cropping up. Fearing his discovering them, they took the money they had gathered up and fled to England, hoping the myth that vampires couldn't cross water would somehow keep him on the other side of the sea.
Believing they were safe, the sisters started up their former lifestyle, though they didn't get quite as laid back with their murder as they had been in Belgium. They were twenty-six years old when Renouart finally caught up to them. They were dragging the deceased body of their former employee towards a nearby river when they were caught. The smell of fresh blood and familiar scents had attracted the vampire, though by the time he arrived the body was gone but the two maids were not.
Having been furiously tracking them for eleven or so years, he first attempted to convince them with charm to comply with him - he was a man that liked having his way and would pursue even the pettiest matters on sheer principle. They refused defiantly and of course provoked his rage. This time, they did not escape so luckily. He had physical strength while they had strength in numbers. In the midst of his attack, Magalie was mortally wounded. In defense of her sister, Natalie managed to defeat the vampire as she thankfully found herself a nearby tree branch which she stabbed him repeatedly with. However, she did not escape unscathed either. Having been bitten by him, she was fortunate (or unfortunate) enough to have survived. Unable to stop her new found lust for blood, she resorted to the nearest source which happened to be her own sister. Fortunately, she managed to stop herself before killing her completely.
The two sisters stayed 48 hours in the dingy alleyway, undisturbed by the world. After those two days in which Natalie believed her sister dead by her hands and Magalie lay weak and newly changed, they finally discovered each other's state and rejoiced in their narrow escape. Since, the two sisters have continued the life of murder and theft they lead before their mortal lives ended, though they have learned more discretion and perfected their act.
Two months ago, they caught wind of a place called Hogsmede where witches and wizards seemed to congregate in their own settlement. Not having drastically interacted with the magical population in their lifetime, they have come in their usual guise as maids to investigate. As usual, they have kept their vampirism a secret.
Personality: Out of the two sisters, Natalie is definitely the leader. At least, she usually is. Rarely vulnerable, she can be humble and act sweetly when the situation calls for it but will almost certainly stab a person in the back the next moment (in some cases quite literally). She is fiercely defensive of her twin sister, almost too defensive and neither has really kept a lover. At least, not around longer than a week and certainly not for any other purpose than for entertainment and eventually a nice snack. Natalie is a drama queen and rarely knows when to stop, which is usually okayas her sister is expert at reigning her in but sometimes Magalie can get swept up in the moment also.
Natalie has a very cynical view of the world and is very quick to jump to conclusions. She is definitely the more rash of the two but when in their element, they can certainly be just as bad as each other. The pair of them usually balance each other out and manage to keep the other safe. They have not been separated from each other for longer than 48 hours in their entire lives and greatly dislike being separate for anything over 24 hours. They are both very proud and though Natalie is perhaps the more vocal and more assertive one, Magalie does not let herself sink completely into Natalie's shadow.
