    Isn't It Fascinating?

It was supposed to be a quiet hour in the library. Most people were off in classes but Viola had a free period, thanks to her limited spread of OWL's. In times like these she usually found herself in the art room or the library, and on this particular day she'd decided on the library. It wasn't for any particular reason- no, she'd been studying for her worst subject (charms) plenty. Viola just wanted to enrich her knowledge. That, and she was terribly, and characteristically, bored.

She found herself reading a book titled Irvingly and Beyond about the founding of Irvingly. It had only been written six months ago. It was to a certain extent fascinating, learning about the place she'd just moved to. It was also not a terribly terrific story, and she shut it within twenty minutes.

Then she spotted a rather peculiar book. It was titled History Tomorrow- The practical use of timeturners. What in heaven's name was a time turner? Viola snatched it up, her hair falling out of her messy bun and tumbling onto her shoulders as she did so. It was another half an hour before she picked up her head from the book. Inclined to talk about the subject, she turned her head to the nearest person and began blabbing.

"Did you know about these things, time turners?" she asked incredulously to the boy next to her.

Cole didn't hear the high pitched feminine voice at first. He was quite unused to hearing girls talk to him. Not because he was particularly ugly, or uncomfortable around those of the female persuasion; but rather because he rarely spoke to them. In fact, there weren't really any girls that he knew here at the moment, and he hadn't been expecting one of his scattered female friends to visit him today. So it was almost a full thirty seconds of not hearing someone reply before Cole raised his gray-blue eyes from the book on Chinese religion to find the source of the voice which had interrupted his reading.

What they landed upon was a blonde with hair too well done to be anything but upper class. As a rule, Cole held a great distaste for empty-headed, marriage obsessed upper class girls. On the other hand, propriety and manners had been slowly burned into every corner of his personality by an overbearing father. The latter won out as the ravenclaw slowly closed his book and—with a soft sigh-- turned his full attention to the young woman sitting beside him.

He looked at her from the top of her very clean hair, to the tips of her well managed fingernails and inwardly grimaced. What was it that she had been asking him about? Right…Time turners. Cole had done little research on time turners. While they remained a significant invention in wizarding society, they had very little to do with the cultures of which he could often be found immersed in study. There was a redeeming quality to the young woman—she had a distinctive French accent. Now, France...that was a culture that Cole was interested in.

Arching a brow he returned a slightly less irritated gaze toward her face. “To be honest, I’ve not read very much on the subject. I am, however, familiar with time turners and their general uses. Why do you ask?” he questioned, lifting his head slightly to look at the book she had been reading. Of course the book itself was about time turners. Where else would this girl have gotten the idea to question some random person about an otherwise rarely used wizarding device?
