    Frances Crabbe v. Frederick Humphrey-Mavis
    #1
In the battle of One of His Friends vs. Some Rich Lady Jon Didn't Know, he knew exactly who he was rooting for.

Regardless, he was going to judge this fairly.

"Mrs. Crabbe to begin, with Lord Corcrest to follow!" Jon said after the necessary formalities.

Really she hadn't expected to get so far, she didn't think her magical abilities were bad at all but she'd never really considered them in a competitive light and she'd never been top of her class. Nevertheless, she was in it for the win. Pointing her wand at a nearby footstool, she attempted to cast a charm on it to make it fly around making bird noises.

Freddie tried the knock-back jinx, unlike Jenny, who is too tired to try anything really.
Freddie is formally introduced as 'Viscount Corcrest', but in conversation and in letters is called 'Lord Corcrest' the first time, and afterwards alternatively 'My Lord'

If Freddie was out-duelled by a housewife Jon was going to cackle. As it was, he had certainly lost this round, because his knockback jinx had been sad.

"Mrs. Crabbe takes the round, and Lord Corcrest may begin the second one."

Boo Freddie didn't like being beaten by a woman, especially some pureblooded housewife.

Freddie attempted to bind the dummy with a lasso of FIREEE.

Frances tried to conjure a flamingo even though it would clash horribly with her vividly red hair.

Both displays were mediocre this time, but at least Mrs. Crabbe's flamingo actually was a flamingo, as opposed to Freddie's fire, which burned out before even reaching the dummy. "Mrs. Crabbe takes the duel!" Jon announced.
