History:

• 2nd February 1859 - Esther Nebuchadnezzar Laverne is born in Birmingham to Lysandre Laverne, a French doctor, and his wife Rosa, a schoolteacher. The family are comfortable but are always the first in their street to catch an illness due to Lysandre’s frequent contractions while at work.
  
  
• 17th December 1861 - Lysandre and Rosa have another child, a daughter named Jennifer-Jane. However, Rosa contracts puerperal fever after the birth of Jennifer. Lysandre immediately rushes to help his wife, and does everything he can to save her. However, her condition progressively gets worse.
  
  
• January 1862 - Rosa dies from puerperal fever, despite her husband’s efforts. Lysandre puts both of his children in the care of his wife’s sister, Rebekah, in Torquay. He returns to France to try and recover from the loss of his wife. The two become close, as they effectively have neither of their parents.
  
  
• 29th September 1863 - Rebekah and Morticius have a daughter, Pleasant Lewisham. Her birth puts the Lavernes to the side of Mr and Mrs Lewisham’s attentions. They are treated well, but the baby is seen as ever so slightly more important.
  
  
• 1st March 1864 - Esther shows signs of magic, shocking his Muggle uncle. Rebekah has to explain everything to her husband, which doesn’t help much. She never had the ability to speak well. And Morticius didn’t understand magic any more than he understood Finnish. Which he couldn’t understand a word of.
  
  
• 31st May 1866 - Lysandre finally returns to England, a greatly changed man. He is more strict and authoritative than the easy going and friendly man that left England. He takes his children back to Birmingham. Their life as a family was not as happy as it had been, even though the children had been too young to remember before their mother’s death.
  
  
• 1867-1869 - The years between returning to Birmingham and going to Hogwarts for Esther were monotonous and purely unenjoyable. He didn’t enjoy living with his father. He was utterly miserable. He had English, French and history drilled into his brain throughout the entire time. The only good things that happened were when Jennifer-Jane showed signs of magic, Christmas and that time a cat got into the house and ate some paper from one of Lysandre’s books. So, one could imagine how pleased Esther was when he received his letter from Hogwarts, informing his father of his acceptance to the school.
  
  
• 1st September 1870 - Esther goes to Hogwarts for the first time. He is sorted into Ravenclaw but feels oddly out of place, due to the effects of his father’s strict upbringing. He tends to sit at the back of the classroom and just gets on with his work.
  
  
• 12th December 1871 - Esther starts to come out of his shell more, as his father’s upbringing starts to wear off, and befriends a housemate of his, Cicero Albertine. He is fully aware of his father’s automatic dislike of Cicero, as his father was an artist and Muggleborn. The disdain Lysandre had for Mr Albertine (which he developed over letters sent to and from Esther) made Esther feel extremely sorry for Cicero.
  
  
• 2nd August 1872 - Lysandre met Mr Albertine at long last. What followed became known by Cicero and Esther as ‘The Incident of ‘72’. It went very badly. Lysandre did nothing but insult Mr Albertine about his profession. And his wages. And his style. And his profession again. In the September of that year, Jennifer-Jane goes to Hogwarts.
  
  
• Summer 1874 - Esther spends the summer at the Albertines’ house in London. He finds himself enjoying life with the artistic family much more enjoyable than his own family life. He is doted on by Cicero’s mother, Flavia, a cellist, and Cicero’s sister, Lucianna.
  
  
• 8th April 1876 - Esther and Cicero befriend a Ravenclaw in the year below them, Dana Sidhe, and form a sort of circle. It is a welcome relief from their OWLs the previous year. Esther and Lysandre’s relationship becomes more difficult for Esther to deal with when he starts keeping more secrets from him, name the fact he followed Cicero to bed while he was staying with them that summer. He had seen it as an inevitable thing to, they had been having prolonged glances for the majority of sixth year.
  
  
• Summer 1877 - After his graduation, Esther took the first chance he could to get away from his father. And so moved to Hogsmeade with the little money he had been given by his father to effectively leave him alone. He was glad to get rid of him. However, he soon found he could not support living in a house of his own, and so happily took up the offer of living with the Albertines. However by the time Esther had moved in, Lucianna was happily married with a family of her own. He and Cicero continued their affair, oblivious to the fact that Mr and Mrs Albertine knew.
  
  
• 19th March 1878 - Esther takes a job at the Daily Prophet as a reporter, a job which he discovers he loves and is paid excellently for. He continues living with the Albertines, but makes plans to buy his own house. He doesn’t want to overstep his welcome with the Albertines, despite his more than growing affection for Cicero.
  
  
• 24th December 1880 - Christmas 1880 is surprisingly ruined. Lysandre falls down several flights of stairs, breaking his neck clean in two. Esther and Jennifer-Jane find themselves surprised at how sad they actually are. Well, without Lysandre, Esther would never have met Cicero. Never have met the Albertines. Never have become a writer. Never have done what he wanted. Never have lived. And he had all the money he needed to buy his own home in Hogsmeade, which he shared with his sister. He was sad to leave the Albertines, but he had to.
  
  
• 1881-1884 - The years between 1881 and 1884 were repetitive, but enjoyable. He and Jennifer lived happily under their roof, with the occasional guest, with Mr, Mrs and Miss Lewisham becoming frequent guests, along with Mr C. Albertine. Cicero Albertine had begun to drift away from Esther. They stopped living in the same house, they stopped sharing a bed. They remained friends, though it was a strange friendship. It hurt Esther. He had thought he had been in love.But, he hadn’t, he supposed. It couldn’t be that easy to lose someone you love, could it? Maybe it was.

  Sample Roleplay Post: The church was quiet. Eerily quiet. He was alone. He had sent Lex and Mashka to bed hours before. They were tired and he didn't want them to have to kneel in prayer for hours on end. He himself wasn't kneeling anymore, his legs were starting to seize up. The church was cold as well. The paintings of Maria and Jesus looked at him, with sympathy in their painted eyes. He kept repeating "Save her. Save her. Oh God, save her." They had never been in love, never. He had never been in love. Neither had she, apparently. But he needed Nastya. She was what kept him where he should be. He would be lost without her. He couldn't hear anything. He hadn't been able to hear her since he entered the church.
  
  
  The Ambassador was becoming more scared. He was praying in front of the Virgin Maria. Her painted face looked like Nastya. He felt his eyes sting with tears. As they fell down his pale face, he repeated his prayers louder. His knees were aching, and his eyes were stinging. But he could not stop. If he stopped for one second, she'd die. If he stopped for one second, Nastya would be a memory. And then he'd be alone again. His children couldn't feel his pain. They had never gone through what he had. His father shot. Felix. And now this. His prayers became louder. Finally, the doors of the church opened. A doctor stood in the doorway. In broken Russian, he told Feliks the worst news he could have given. "I'm sorry, sir. Your daughter was stillborn." The Prince fell to his knees, his tears blurring his vision. He cried into the floor. His daughter, dead. His poor baby daughter. She didn't even have a name.
  
  
  He had been crying for what seemed like years by the time the doctor spoke again."The Lady Anastasiya is gravely ill. I am doing my best." The Prince stood suddenly and grabbed the doctor's coat. "My wife is no Lady. You will call her by her title. Kyanginya. Now go! Go! Save my wife or you will... you will..." He fell to the floor again, his tears falling. He lay on the floor of the church, praying that Nastya did not die. She couldn't die.
