"Miss Egeria Rivers," Ada had just been reaching for a glass of warmed pumpkin juice when a teacher whom she didn't recognise approached her. The teacher spoke in a very pronounced Scottish accent and Ada's outstretched hand changed direction. She raised it meekly into the air.

"That's me." She said clearly and the teacher's eyes seemed to look at her disinterested and nodded.

"Follow me then Miss Rivers." Ada made her polite excuses to her tablemates and followed the teacher quite curious. She wondered what the teacher wanted, afterall she was supposed to be leaving to stay with her cousin Isolde today. She hoped it wasn't to tell her that her cousin was ill and unable to take her in for the holidays and she'd have to spend Christmas at the castle. She felt rather guilty about the fact that other than a few letters she had hardly written to her cousin all term and hoped she was okay. Ada wasn't looking forward to a Christmas spent at the castle especially when all her friends would be travelling home but her worry for Isolde came first.

She saw a cluster of students, and recognised her cousins among them as well as a few students she vaguely remembered from Isolde's wedding. The teacher lead her towards them and then briskly departed after a firm command of 'wait here.'

She stared at the students confused for a moment, and noticed that her luggage, as well as the luggage of the other students sat piled to the side. Even her cats basket sat there obviously occupied. It must've been the house-elves she realized.

"What's going on?" She asked the person in front of her in a small voice.

[Brynn Malfoy]

This was such a catastrophy. Brynn was going to return home today and she had chosen carefully her outfit. A warm, purple dress with matching gloves and hat, Brynn was going to look stunning once she stepped inside her house. But, she was not going to return home with a carriage, like she was expecting to do. It was snowing heavily outside, so, as a result, the roads were blocked and the only way Brynn could return home was through the floo network. Brynn hated travelling like that, it always got her clothes dirty, but she couldn't do anything for that matter anyway.

A teacher showed her the way to a small classroom, full of other female students. Brynn sighed as she waited for her order, the other girls were so slow that Brynn wanted to throw up. Most of them were actually still wearing their school uniforms! That, was just stupid, for young Brynn. They were returning home, so, why did they still wear those hideous school robes? Brynn hated wearing them, they had no shape at all.

Brynn sighed one more time, when she heard a little voice behind her. She turned around and saw a familiar face of a first year. Egeria Rivers was one distant relative of hers and she was supposed to celebrate Christmas with Brynn's family. Brynn guessed that the younger student didn't have her own family to celebrate the holidays with.

" There is a snowstorm outside, dear cousin." Brynn replied politely, looking at the nearest window. The only thing she could see was white. " The roads are blocked, so we are going to go home through the floo network." Brynn continued quietly, glancing to the fireplace, when a student disappeared in the flames. " I believe you know how to travel, dear. You just throw some dust in the fire and then you get in and say where you want to go." Brynn explained and then she added. " You should say, 'The Malfoy Family Estate', as clearly as you can."

Ada's eyes widened as the tall but very fashionable brunette girl in front of her turned around and she recognized her. It was Isolde's new sister-in-law, Brynn Malfoy. Ada didn't know particularly what to think of the girl, who even after Ada having now grown to standing height in her socks of four foot two still was over a foot taller than her... Her beautiful purple dress made her slightly jealous of the fact that at eleven she still wore her dress to the knee and if she tried to make them longer all she succeeded in doing was making herself seemed stupid.

The line moved forward as Brynn explained what was required of them and Ada frowned. She'd heard of floo before but she hadn't exactly travelled by it. Her grandmother preferred to organize portkeys or simply do sidelong apparition. She wondered how she was going to carry her luggage and her cat through what seemed a vortex of the flames.

"And if I shout there I should end up at the Malfoy Estate, right?" She asked questioningly and stared at the fire as both Brynn and she approached the beginning of the line.

"I heard it was awfully easy to get lost with one of these..." She said trailing off.

[Brynn Malfoy]

" It is not, unless you don't say anything correctly." Brynn explained to the younger Gryffindor, watching how a sixth year Hufflepuff student disappeared in the flames. Brynn had no idea who the girl was, but she recognized her last name, it was a good, wealthy wizarding family and their house was close to the Malfoy's Estate. Brynn, of course, would never talk to a Hufflepuff, unless she really had to.

Finally, it was her turn to use the fireplace and she looked at Egeria for a few seconds. What if the child got lost? Probably Brynn could give her her turn and then return home. Then again, it was not her problem if Isolde's cousin got lost in a fireplace, so Brynn only gave Egeria a smile and walked to the fireplace. " Just do whatever I do right now." she said and picked up some of the dust and threw it in the flames. Then, she stepped in the fire and shouted 'The Malfoy Family Estate' and watched as Professor Phineas's office disappeared. Soon, she could see the huge sitting room of her her house in Wellingtonshire.

" What are you looking at, filthy creature!" she yelled at the house elf who was standing next to her. She threw her bag on the poor creature and with her eyebrows raised, she made some steps back and waited for Egeria to appear.

Ada stared at the fireplace with a look of shock on her face as Brynn Malfoy disappeared and decided, with a frown that she wasn't looking forward to this. She took her luggage, and her cat 'Courage' 's basket and approached the fire with nervousness. The teacher who stood by the portal didn't even blink at her and she gathered up a handful of the dust, just as she'd seen Brynn do and imitated her.

"The Malfoy Family Estate" She shouted and with a Whoosh she landed in the sitting room of a house. She didn't exactly recognise the room and would've paniced had not Brynn been standing there waiting.

Ada could not contain her grin of relief, and quickly ducked her head not knowing how Brynn would interpret it. She was in a new place, with new rules and while she didn't know her cousins new family particularly well she wished so very hard that she would not make an unfavorable impression upon them. She clutched her cat's basket to her chest, and was somewhat glad her luggage had travelled with her.

"Umm..." She said and stared down at her luggage, not knowing what to do, or what she was supposed to do. Her grandmother usually took over in her proud, stiff voice but this was the first time Ada had visited a house without the woman.
