Lydia had been busy almost nonstop all morning. Luckily, it had seemed like Mr. Cavanaugh had been busy as well. She hadn't heard so much as a peep from his office the entire time, something that suited her just fine. It allowed for her to finally get caught up for once though she doubted it was something that would last too long. It never seemed to in the Magical Games and Sports Department. Especially with the Quidditch season well underway and now the Junior League. Frankly, it was a good thing Lydia like her job and did so well at it otherwise she'd have bailed out long ago. Not to mention her father would have pushed her to marry then as she'd clearly be in the way at home too much if she didn't have a job or wasn't married. That was all beside the point.
With a sigh, she finally sat back in her chair ready for a small reprieve from all the hustle and bustle. That was, until she noticed that it was a mere half hour before Mr. Cavanaugh was meant to meet with a Mr. Simons about a complaint filed against one of the referees. She rolled her eyes knowing that Mr. Cavanaugh surely would have forgotten it. So much for a breather.
Getting up from her desk, she knocked quickly on the door of Mr. Cavanaugh's office before stepping in. Her jaw dropped and her blue eyes widened. He wasn't even in there! Where in Merlin's beard could he have gone without her noticing? Not only that, what was that mess on his desk. She stalked over to his desk and shook her head, loosening a curl or two from their pins in the process. With pursed lips, she began tidying up the top of his desk, her OCD flaring horribly at the disarray before her eyes. "Oh that man," she mumbled under her breath as she did her best to make sense of the mess to get things sorted out properly. She knew what she'd be doing with the rest of her workday.
