They worked for the Lamoureux family , happy that they were able to give their daughter a decent life. The Lamoureux family decided that they were going to move out of Haiti and took the Saint- Pierre’s with them to France, giving the small family their own little room on the west wing of the house. The family lived comfortably there for years, raising their daughter, along with helping to raise the young boys of the house.

On her fifth birthday her mother had taken her to the market to pick out her present. During their trip Nettie had disappeared to play with another little child, who had attempted to engage the young girl in a snowball fight. However, the other child became too aggressive and threw snow into her face laughing as the young girl tried to wipe the cold ice from her face. Nettie became upset and a whirlwind of snow began to circle the little girl, before rushing towards the other child who screamed bloody murder. Luckily, Arva had been the only witness and managed to stop her daughter from making an even bigger scene. Rumors of them being witches filtered around the town, but none really paid much attention to the little child that started it.
The Art of Tea & Cakes
Tea was a passion of Madam. Lamoureux and without any daughters she couldn’t pass that passion on to anyone else. Her sons were more interested in becoming gentlemen and making themselves known in the society. She decided that she would rather introduce that talent to the young daughter of her servant to broaden the young girls mind. Every day while her mother tended to her duties in the home, Nanette would sit with the Madam and learn about the different types of teas and cakes that matched perfectly for hours. Although Nanette didn’t care much for the lessons at first it did give her a chance to not have to clean everywhere in the house during the day, so she went to each lesson with great enthusiasm.

Her mother introduced her to magic, teaching her about both of their family’s history of magic. At first Nettie didn’t want to know much about it but after her mother showed her a rather cool trick with this small stick that she carried around (wand) she became slightly interested. Her mother then told her that her mood affected how her magic would be whenever she grew up.

She received a letter from Hogwarts a week before her birthday, but her parents did not have enough money to send their daughter off to the school. What they were able to do was buy the young girl a wand of her own at a wand shop located in the slums of Paris. The wand that became hers wasn’t as expensive as her parents had first believed.

Her mother taught her how to make her first potion, which was an elixir to cure colds.
Life changing day 1883 TW: Mentions of rape
The summer of 1883 the year she turned 19. She had been alone sick in bed while her mother and the mistress were out. Her father was accompanying the master to the gentlemen’s club. It happened around midday when she was woken up by a heavy body on top of her. It was the eldest son of the estate, Laurent, who had also stayed behind due to being “ill”. All she remembers from the short experience was the pain of her virtue being taken, the choking, slaps to her face and the grin he held the entire time. When he finished she was left on the bed until her mother arrived. Arva knew immediately what had happened to her daughter and wanted revenge for it.
The next day her mother started to make a potion that would make Laurent very ill and eventually kill him, just to keep any blame off of her family, but before she could even slip it into the boys drink her daughter had already acted out her revenge. The girl had somehow managed to scare the boy into death ( heart attack). She had pulled out her wand and pointed it at him, causing a light to emit from the tip, but no magic came from it. Nanette was terrified that her thoughts of killing the boy had actually happened when she was upset. She believed that she had casted a spell on the boy that killed him. Her wand made the situation even worse because she was sure that what her mother had said about her anger had come into fruition. It made her afraid of her magic and she vowed to never use it again. The family ran away, embarking on their escape to Britain. The ship they used all of their life’s savings to board, knowing that if they didn’t leave France they would be killed. They landed on the port of Ramsgate instead of London, choosing to get off board and make their way to London. The family couldn’t afford waiting around, just in case the French authorities came after them. On their way to London Arva and Nanette became separated from John. They searched three days for him, but found no sign of his whereabouts. Arva then decided that they needed to continue their journey to London.
On arrival to London they managed to live in a small home along with other families within the slums of London. The only way that Arva was able to pay the rent was by prostitution, a secret she kept from her daughter. Nettie had no idea of how her mother was getting money, but she felt as if they were pretty well off. She had an English tutor that would come three times a week and would receive payment from her mother in sexual favors.
December 1884 , her mother had gone out to purchase a few Christmas foods to cook; she left in the early morning hours, but never returned that night. Arva rarely came home late, maybe on two occasions. Nettie didn’t fret too much about it until she woke up alone within their home. She gave her mother a few more hours to return, but by midday she was already running through the streets searching for the woman. She searched for many days, only going home to stay out of the cold and eat. As the New Year came around she found herself unable to pay their rent and was evicted after 10 days. For a week she tried to find shelter, but could only get people to let her stay with them for money or sex. She did the best she could staying healthy in those five days, huddling where there were open flames around other homeless people of the town.

Little did she know those women were also witches that she only caught a glimpse of one time in Hogsmeade. It was a cold winter and she needed shelter. The first place she happened to stumble upon was a quaint little tea house called the Painted Lady. She was cold and hoped that maybe someone would be nice enough to offer her a cup of tea free of charge, or at least allow her to work in the teahouse to repay them. When she entered she noticed that the shop was run by a woman, a rather friendly woman that listened to her when she explained her situation in the best English possible. She in turn listened as the woman, known as Madam Tessa, explained what the tea shop really was. At first she didn’t like the idea of becoming a prostitute to live somewhere, but knew that she had no magical education and wouldn’t be able to find a decent job. The thought of working as a maid again was out of the question. The fear of working underneath someone that could potentially take advantage of her like the last family she worked for did. Nettie ended up signing the contract and moving into the brothel.
Her first night with a man was the worst. It brought back the memories of Laurent forcing her, but after the second time she got use to the idea. She learned from the madam that it was her duty to take control of the situation and take some of her pleasure while ensuring that the customer received his. The few months that she has lived in the brothel have been very challenging, the language barrier being one of few, but she is optimistic that she can repay her debt and be reunited with her family once again.
Personality: Always smiling. She is the one that tries to keep the peace within the brothel. She hates the sight and sound of fighting. Nettie enjoys listening to music, she learned to play the piano and harp from her mistress who said it would be wise for her to put her delicate hands for better use. She understands English, for the most part, but speaks very little. Her primary language is French. She enjoys sweets at tea time, knowing which cakes compliment certain teas. Has a fear of blonde haired men due to the traumatic experience she had with Laurent. Very polite when it comes to her customers, unwilling to try anything too adventurous unless it’s a must by the Madam She doesn’t kiss anyone because she feels as if it is too personal. Her first kiss was also taken from her and she would like to kiss someone that she likes or loves. Nettie would like to fall in love someday, any girl would, but paying back her debt to the Madam is her number one priority.
