Appearance:

Standing a little over five feet, eight inches tall, Preston Church is quite handsome (compared to the other men in his family at least). It's said he inherited his maternal grandfather's appearance, having cloudy gray eyes and light brown hair. He dresses very modestly and appropriately for his income level, and while he doesn't care too much about appearances, he tries to maintain a clean and neat appearance for work. He wields his wand with his right hand.

History:

Background | While John Church was born into a lower class family, Amelia Orwell was born into a lower-middle class family where she received a full education. Not too long before she met Mr. Church, her family began experiencing hardships after her father lost of her job, and they eventually fell to the upper-lower class. Because of this, Amelia had the education later in life to teach her children simple things such as history, how to read and write, basic math skills, and other things that a middle class women would know how to do.

1858 | Born to Mr. and Mrs. John Church after a year of their marriage, Preston is the firstborn son and receives much love and attention from his parents. While his parents worked during the day, he'd often stay with one of his mother's middle class friends who stayed home as a housewife; this was never known outside of the two families.

1862 | Preston's younger brother, Raymond, is born into the family. Preston isn't too happy about having another sibling he has to share his mother's affection with, but he soon learns to deal with it and finds comfort reading his children's books.

1866 | Preston's younger sister, Winnifred, is born into the family and is quite a shock for the Church family, as for some reason his mother never developed any sort of large bump other than one that looked like she was a little bloated—and even that faded. Preston's old enough to help care for his sister while his parents are at work and is often left alone with her and his brother during the day at their two room home.

1870 | Preston's parents scrape enough money to send him to Hogwarts for his first year of school. He is sorted into Hufflepuff and finds that he has a love for History of Magic and small charms that he thinks make his life easier. He does, however, dislike Potions and Transfiguration, thinking both subjects are silly and useless.

1871 | Preston's parents are unable to send him back to Hogwarts for his second year so he goes to work at the same shop his mother works at as a shop scrubber. Because his mother works at a muggle shop, he gains a sort of interest in muggle culture, but that would eventually fade as he grows older. He gets fired from work within a few months after developing a nasty case of influenza and is unable to work, leading to his layoff. He eventually recovers and resorts to doing chores for his neighbors in order to make some money.

1872 | Preston's father dies from an accident in the factory he works at, leaving the four person family to leave their small shack and rent a one-room home in the darker slums of London. Preston (unhappily and guiltily) resorts to helping his muggle neighbors pick-pocket wealthier women in the nearby shopping plaza in a desperate attempt to keep his brother and sister fed. He gives up this nasty habit when his mother's employer offers him a job as a bus boy at the local pub.

1875 | Sadly, Preston's mother dies after being murdered by a group of thieves in the middle of the slums, leaving Preston to care for his younger brother and sister. Luckily, both his brother and sister are old enough to (do some sort of) work and they help contribute to keeping the family's rent paid and enough food for a meal each day.

1877 | After being interrogated by some of their muggle neighbors, Preston takes his brother and sister to live in the Slums of Hogsmeade and earns a job as a bartender at The Three Broomsticks. His brother goes to work at the local pet shop as a shop scrubber and his sister begins to con oblivious strangers into giving her money with her sweet smile and innocent words—and when it doesn't work, she pick-pockets anyways when they're not looking.

1879 | Raymond turns seventeen and becomes a young an assistant to an upper-middle class man, being able to bring in a little bit more money than he had as a shop scrubber. Winnifred fancies herself in love with one of the eighteen-year-old boys at her job and would eventually start a relationship with him as she went through puberty and began appearing as a young woman instead of a mere young teen.

1882 | Winnifred marries her lover in a small ceremony and becomes pregnant within a few month's time. Preston begins arguing with his brother-in-law when his sister tells him she's going to move away from Hogsmeade to live with her new husband, and tells him that he has no right to take Winnifred away from her family. Preston eventually loses the argument and his sister moves with her new husband back to London, where she gives birth to her first child—a daughter.

1884 | Preston briefly—and I mean very briefly—courts a woman named Angeline, but quickly cuts his ties with her when he discovers that she's slept with another guy. He leaves her heartbroken, but he also leaves her with his reputation intact.

Personality:

Preston is a very polite and responsible man with strong moral values and a way with words. While he didn't receive his full education, he still acts as if he has and has continued to improve his vocabulary and eloquence in order to maintain a respectable position in (lower class) society. He tends to stress over the tiniest things and could be considered a perfectionist, and also suffers from a mild case of OCD. He doesn't trust others very easily and never knows when to believe someone, and it takes a toll on his ability to make and keep new friends. He's a family man who loves his siblings more than anything and would give his own life to make sure they were protected.
