A festive treat for autumn. Candied Apples Recipe
Autumn, of course, is the time when apples are naturally at their ripest, and as such they are found in many seasonal dishes. Candied apples make for a rather festive treat to serve at your parties!

    Ingredients:
    • 6 Apples - we suggest ones that are both sweet and a little bit tart!
    • 1/2 cup of golden syrup
    • 2 cups of sugar
    • 3/4 cup of water
    • Your choice of toppings

Add the syrup, sugar and water to a saucepan and cook over medium heat. Stir until the sugar has dissolved completely--it must do this before the mixture boils! Once this is done, bring to a boil. Let simmer until this reaches 290 degrees (use a thermometer, of course). Before coating your apples, first skewer them with the apples with whatever implements you plan to hold them with. Holding the apples by this implement, dip them completely in the candy mixture, and then dip the coated apple in your toppings.

Merlin and Rowena Ravenclaw are overrated choices, don't you think? 4 Unique Costume Ideas!
Picking a costume can be a difficult task - especially if you want yours to be one of a kind! We have compiled a list of four costumes we’ve rarely -- or never! -- seen at a Halloween event.

A house. We’ve seen people dress up as all sorts of household staff, but never as a house. How can such a costume be accomplished, you ask? Use meshing transfiguration to mash up a dress with a dollhouse. Then, charm a hat to look like a roof. And voila!

An invisible man/woman. Now if that isn’t an easy one! Simply buy an invisibility robe and wear it! A pricey investment in might be, but it will surely come of use even after you’ve used it as a costume.

A boat. Have a navy and white dress or robe sewn -- we’re sure that the House of Lytton, or if you can’t afford that, Twilfit & Tatting’s, could make an interesting design with those requirements! Then, get a miniature boat and wear it as a headpiece. A fun nod to the trends popular a century prior!

The sea. The House of Lytton is famous for its enchanted fabrics! Utilize that, to get a dress that looks as if it was made out of sea water.
We still encourage that you go for your own unique ideas when choosing a costume. We’re sure you’ll look great!

    Costumes to avoid this Halloween!
Every year there seems to be one or two young ladies- or not so young!- who make a dreadful sight of themselves by choosing the wrong costume. If you can’t decide what to wear, you shall at least be safe if you avoid the top mistakes on this list!

Clowns | Very few ladies can pull off the burlesque and harlequin patterns of clowns with any dignity, despite their popularity! The frizzed hair is also awfully damaging to a lady’s precious locks, and the full face of paint is at best ghastly, and at worst indecent for any well bred young lady!

Bats | A plain black costume may be tempting to the less creative, but not only are they overdone, wearing of black when there may be people in mourning present is rather insensitive. Not to mention that it is an awfully draining colour for a young woman!
Pumpkins | Perhaps even worse than attending in black is attending in bright orange! Not only do you risk looking part of the decorations, but such a colour is hard to pull off with any dignity, as it the bright green hair ornaments it demands! The round shaped dress, achieved through charms, is perhaps rather effective, but a hindrance for dancing, and when it wears off you may be left looking more like a carrot!

Famous Historical Figures | A safe, and most unimaginative choice! It shows a lack of effort and originality on your part, and you run the risk of wearing a similar costume to another young lady! The shame!

’Peasants’ | Dressing as the poor (especially from another period) always seems a popular choice, and we are at odds as to why! The poor’s attire has little room for fashion, and no matter how nicely made up in silks and how many jewels are also worn, the dress of a shepherdess from the last century was not fashionable then, let alone now!

It's always important to know what's coming! Halloween Horoscopes!
Aries: Beware picking a common costume, as you run a distinct risk of running into a young lady with the same costume. If you do, be careful not to lose your temper!
Taurus: Those of you who have not yet met an acceptable suitor run a high likelihood of running into one this Halloween! Be ready!
Gemini: You're going to learn something very interesting about someone you care for this Halloween. Try not to divulge the information too quickly!
Cancer: Though we know that Halloween isn't your favorite holiday, we think that you'll have a good time! Be sure to attend a party that night!
Leo: Do not listen to your first instinct for costumes! Your second idea will be much better.
Virgo: In contrast to Cancer, you might want to consider staying in on Halloween. If you do head out, try not to have any over-emotional conversations.
Libra: You and your suitor will reach a new level of understanding this Halloween!
Scorpio: Like Aries, you should be very careful not to lose your temper if anyone copies your costume.
Sagittarius: Your family will frustrate you on Halloween, but you will end up enjoying yourself.
Capricorn: You'll have a good time on Halloween if you spend most of the night talking to a Gemini friend.
Aquarius: Consider avoiding any Aries friends you have this Halloween.
Pisces: Fish are never a good costume idea.
