    The Flint Institute
    #1
    90% Kayte’s fault

Josephina has firmly come to the conclusion that in order for magical children (not muggleborns, obviously) to reach their potential, they need to be removed from having any muggle influence in their lives, and that not doing so leads to delinquency, weak magic and generally being useless (just look at Phineas II as an example of what being raised in London does!). As a result, she purchased a large, formerly burnt-out house on East Founder’s Way in the Autumn and founded The Flint Institute. Which she’s going to have nothing to do with other than funding and boasting about.

    The Institute
The Institute is overseen by an acting headmistress, Walpurga Schmidt, a formidable witch of German origin whose mother ran a magical boarding school in Bavaria until 1801 when a body was found under the floorboards. Walpurga is very much like Josephina in terms of ideology- she firmly believes in corporal punishment and blood purity.  She conducts thorough background checks on all students personally and generally takes no shit.

The Institute operates the same term dates as Hogwarts for ease of uninterested parents remembering when they need to deal with their children. The day students come in six days a week, nine till six Monday to Friday, and nine till one on Saturdays, with the exception being the Girl’s seminary (see below). Lunch and dinner are provided.

    The students
    Because of the abysmal numbers of played kids, NPCs can be enrolled too. The Institute is open to primarily UCPB children, though MCPBs will be admitted provided they can afford the 3g5s per week fees- cheaper than hiring a top-grade governess, though the fees are per child (boarding is also extra). Halfbloods may be admitted provided they are;
    • Upper class
    • Of spotless reputation
    • Have no muggles, muggleborns, non-humans or squibs as parents, grandparents, aunts/uncles (including by marriage) or first cousins
    • and their parents are willing to make a ‘contribution’ to the school.
The details in brackets relates to students being day or boarding, and their age.

    The nursery
Overseen by the nursery mistress, the nursery is essentially a creche for children aged between 2 and 4, of either gender. Designed to make sure children are raised with the correct discipline and provide a good basis for their further education, the nursery is a more social alternative to having your child stuck in a nursery at home all day, though the vast majority of families would probably want to have a night nanny on the side too. Features stories such as ‘The boy who cried muggle’ and ‘Cinderella and the veela step-mother’. Costs half the usual fees.

    Students
    • Phineas Black (2)
    • Regina Pendergast (2)
    • Alexander Wilde (3)
    • Serpentine Malfoy (3)
    • Seamus Dawlish (3)

    The Lower Form
For boys aged between 4 and 7, and overseen by Master Quigg. The lower form study Reading and Writing, Mathematics, French, German, Geography, and Magical History, which includes tracing their own family trees. There is also twice weekly instruction in piano and three hours a week of gentlemanly sports, mainly cricket, rugby and fencing.

    Students
    • Gabriel Urquart [D/5]
    • Gavroche Gallois-Fontaine [B/5]
    • Enjolras Gallois-Fontaine [B/6]
    • Marius Gallois-Fontaine [B/6]

    The Upper Form
Overseen by Master Graves, a very stern old man with definite favourites. The upper form is for boys between the ages of 7 and 11. They study the same subjects as the lower school, with the addition of latin, magical botany, and weekly lessons in duelling with fake wands that only emit sparks.

    Students
    • Bran Romsey [D/9]

    The Girl’s Seminary
Girls are admitted to the Institute, although in true Victorian fashion they are taught entirely separately, having their own floor of the house, table in the dining room, teachers, and yard in the grounds. Girls are admitted from the age of seven through eleven, because they don’t need as rigorous an education, and are only in class on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, so as to provide ample time for them to receive instruction in running a household from their Mother.

They are educated in English (with emphasis on composing and performing poetry), Etiquette and Deportment, French, German, Magical history, Music (Piano and singing), Art, and Needlework. There are also once weekly lessons in flower arranging, with the best displays being sent to decorate The Lady Morgana, and two hours of exercise a week- lawn sports and archery in the summer, and indoor deportment-related gymnastics in winter.

    Students
    • Hesper Gamp [D/7]
    • Yvaine Romsey [D/8]
    • Eleanor Trimble [D/11]

    Boarders
The institute offers boarding for an additional fee, from the age of five upwards. For another fee, boarders can also stay even over the summer holidays, if parents are out of the country/really want nothing to do with their spawn. Girls aren’t permitted to board usually, but if the donation was significant and the circumstances exceptional, then they may be allowed to stay in a small room included in the headmistress’ apartment. The Lower Form boarders stay in rooms of four, whereas the Upper Form students stay in rooms of two. The halfblooded students stay in two dorms, one for each form, and the middle class students all stay in one large dorm room, because classism.

Signing up Josephina's future Great Granddaughter-in-law for the Girl's Seminary because HELL YEAH. Also she's 7 as of November if that makes a difference?

Also: I would like to sign up Phineas Black II (age 2) for the nursery but I'm tentative because he's on the canon list. ANY OBJECTIONS?

Oh and can Violetta Lestrange volunteer her during the day <.< she loves working with little children

If the Durchvilles can afford the fees listed then she can attend, though she's too young now! Josephina is hesitant to allow volunteers in the school because obviously Violetta isn't qualified and its meant to employ the best instructors available, and also having volunteers makes it seem like she cant afford proper staff which she's not keen on XD

Taking Serp out as she'd be too old now?
Serpentine is a parselmouth, but your character likely wouldn't know this unless they are related to her. They might, however, notice she carries her pet snake with her.
    wonderful set by olive!
