Maybelle was in the midst of enjoying a tabletop game with Sassy in the Great Hall when it happened. Her friend had procured a teddy bear from somewhere - Maybelle assumed from one of the several gift crackers that had been left scattered across the schoo - and it was nestled nicely in Sassy's arms.

That is, it had been nestled there, until a peculiar sense of something came over Maybelle. Not one of danger or anything but something told her that Sassy had best drop that teddy bear. And now. So she swiftly leaned forward and swatted it right out of her friends arms. Just as it turned into a giant, hairy spider.

The stuffed bear that Sassy had procured from one of the crackers was adorable. It was large and fluffy and perfect for snuggling while one was doing other things, although of course she was very careful not to get any of her meal on it. Maybelle seemed to like it as well, and Sassy was idly wondering if there was a way to copy the bear for her friend when her eyes went wide as Maybelle knocked it out of her arms!

Before she could react, however, the bear turned into a huge bristley spider. Sassy squeaked in alarm, clinging to Maybelle's arm. "Oh, that's so awful! Who would do that?!"

Maybelle patted Sassy's hand as her friend clung to her. "Peeves, I'd hazard a guess. Aw, look at it, there it goes," she said as the spider scuttled off to whereabouts unknown. Maybelle wasn't afraid of spiders, not after so many hours of playing in Aunts garden, but she would rather teddy bears not suddenly turn into them.

"But it's so large! Why would he do that?" Well, to make children scream, she supposed. It had certainly done that! It was so very alarming. "Where do you think it will go?"

"The chaos, probably," Maybelle opined, looking around the Great Hall as other bears became giant, hairy spiders. As for where the spider would go - "I hope a nice garden."

Maybelle was certainly right, and Sassy watched somewhat wide eyed as more bears turned into spiders and ran away. "Or the forest, maybe?" They were certainly scary enough for it.

"Or maybe they will just disappear? What happens to critters that were once teddy's?" It was a curious thing for sure.

"I don't know," Sassy said slowly, watching another of the spiders disappear. "It's too bad it's gone, or we could follow it and try to find out."

"Oh yes! Let's follow it!" For science.
