Appearance:

A shorter woman, Fern could almost pass for normal if it weren't for the fact that she has green skin and a few warts that cover her features.  Very conservative in her dress, Fern tries to wear things that hide as much skin as possible so that people are less likely to see her or, worse, stare at her.

History:

1865 | Fern is born as the first child of Gideon Vablatsky and his wife.
1870 | Her younger brother Gabriel is born looking perfectly normal in comparison to his sister.
1872 | Great-grandmother Vablatsky dies though Fern knows she's supposed to be sad she doesn't really feel anything.
1875 | Gabriel shows his first sign of magic. Fern doesn't really think so much of it as she can do some magic too that her mother has taught her.
1877 | Fern is utterly distressed that she never receives a Hogwarts letter and finds herself distanced from her cousins.
1878 | Cassandra the Elder obliviates herself after receiving a bad Divination OWL leaving Fern s the only Cassandra Vablatsky in the outside world.
1880 | Aunt Eunice dies in a splinching accident and Fern feels terrible that she feels pleased about it.
1881 | Gabriel receives his acceptance letter to Hogwarts and Cassandra hates herself for being jealous, though she still feels that jealousy to this day.
1884 | Gideon dies from laughing plague leaving Fern devastated.  She adored her father.  A part of her becomes cut off from everything else.  After the family moves, she starts to grow herbs and flowers in her room and picks others up where she can find them and starts to sell them in Knockturn Alley where the family now lives.
Present | Things between Gabriel and Fern are still tense and awkward.  She loves her brother, but they haven't ever been able to quite sit on even ground since he started going to Hogwarts.  She just doesn't know how to change it.

Personality:

Fern knows that she is a hag and she knows what is expected of her by most people because of that.  It is because of those expectations that she strives so hard to be the exact opposite.  She is careful with her diet and tends to speak a touch more slowly because she chooses every word with extreme care.  Her every action is measured, calculated so that she doesn't cross a line.  She just wants to live a normal and happy life, something that she knows she will never have.
