The realization that Sebastian would be joining the girls at Hogwarts in a few short months had, like most of the stressors in Balthazar’s life, hit him like a ton of bricks in the night. More and more often to the wizard, it seemed like there was no time at all to enjoy his older children before they evaporated into adulthood, and so when he had woken properly in the morning, he’d written to Miss Titsey to have her reschedule any appointments for that morning, and informed Nanny that he would have Bash until luncheon.

Perhaps the trip to Denbright’s Emporium was overcompensating slightly for his heavy workload of late. Certainly his giving into his son’s goading to try the roller skates had been. Wheels, the Minister of Magic now firmly believed, had no business being on anyone’s feet, and the carefully constructed pyramid of wooden toy dragons was now on the floor surrounding him, huffing small puffs of smoke in irritation at the man who had rolled right into them and knocked them hither and fro.

From his position on the floor, Balt now had the unusual experience of being able to look up at the eldest of his three sons. “I shall not,” he informed the boy emphatically, unable to keep the corners of his mouth from curving into a reluctant smile, “be doing that again!”

Bash was relatively annoyed that his father rarely spent time with him since his promotion to Minister of Magic and, despite the all important position, felt as if Balthazar was neglecting his family to deal with a world he was not so readily introduced to as of yet. Despite this, however, he knew his father was not intentionally avoiding his parental responsibilities, but Bash really had no idea what the Minister of Magic dealt with and who he faced regularly. The topic wasn't exactly great for conversation anyways, so he was content with staying in the dark.

Enjoying a little personal play time, Bash isolated himself to his room until he was surprised, and rather shocked, that his father had planned some time off to spend with him. He could only imagine what they would be doing - perhaps strolling around Hogsmeade or London while visiting some neat magical shops in preparation for his first semester at Hogwarts or going to one of the inns for a Butterbeer - that is, until the proposition of Denbright's was brought to his attention. An audible squeal escaped his lips as he jumped and ran from his room, joining his dad soon thereafter.

Just moments after the duo ventured through the shop's doors, Bash convinced Balthazar to try out a pair of roller skates which resulted in an unfortunate outcome - one that caused the boy to burst out in laughter when the toy dragons were huffing and puffing in a pile on the floor. He thought the situation to be quite humorous, considering the man's following words, and offered a small hand to regain his father's footing.

"Dad, that's funny! Let's do that again!" He giggled, soon noticing the puppet theater that had recently begun a showing. "Wait, can we go see that?" Bash asked, removing his extended hand before Balt could reach for it. He gazed at the puppets who were bobbing up and down, ignoring his father who may have needed a little more help or attention in general.

Balt reached for his son’s hand to help himself up only to have the aid withdrawn as the lad became distracted. Wondering if he hadn’t managed to throw out his back, Balthazar attempted to rise on his own only to discover that a dozen or so of the dragons had latched onto his hair and were holding his head to the floor.

“A little help, Bash?” the wizard asked, raising his voice to get the boy’s attention.

Bash swiftly turned around when he heard the tone of his father's voice. He seemed somewhat irritated and the boy was not wishing to test his limits - at least this time - thus walked carefully back towards the collapsed minister. "Sorry, dad." He said with a dejected tone as he reached for the entanglement of dragons engulfing the man's head. They posed to be quite an obstacle, but luckily a few of them budged to cause some headway no pun intended.

"I think they are all free now." He said, rising onto his feet. Bash was waiting in anticipation to see if his father truly was able to stand once more but feared further engagement with his hair would only upset the man to the point of rage.

Balt winced as one of the toy dragons clung a bit too tightly to his hair, pulling some out as it was removed. He had to agree, though, that he was indeed free, and the wizard sat up slowly, not wholly convinced he hadn’t severely injured himself in his tumble.

“Now you know why I was reluctant to try the roller skates,” he said dryly to his son, though a smile did creep to his lips as the words left them. “Hopefully you prove to be more athletic than your old dad—did you want a pair? Not for in the house, mind.”
