"Are you always this forward?" He asked teasingly since it would be a very short thread if he just ignored her entirely. — Tobin Cartwright in Take A Peek
Did you know? Churchgoers and worshippers had to endure a foul stench during prayers due to the amount of bodies often stored within the vaults of churches and chapels.
Her cuff proclaimed her a Slytherin, while the proud Hufflepuff knew her stone should be yellow. Like the walls of her childhood nursery, after her first sign of magic. Like the banners that decorated her room now. But no.
It was green, emerald green, and Mozelle hated it. She wanted so terribly to remove it, but that would bring worse than just a wrong house to her cuff. It would be damning, condemning, marking her as a rebellious youth, or worse, a strumpet. And Mozelle was far from that.
She tried to hide the cuff from view, embarrassed by the change in color, even though she knew nothing she could have done would change her cuff's color to green!

The clock had just struck and Rose was grateful to get out of her charms class. Even though it hadn't yet hit two hours after breakfast, the Hufflepuff was absolutely starving. She hoped lunch would speed it's way on closer, for her stomach had started to growl in her last class.
She had just exited her classroom and was walking down the hall towards her next class when she saw a girl she recognized in her way. The girl – Miss Rios – was looking at her chastity cuff. Furrowing her brow, Rose paused by the girl. Wasn't....wasn't Miss Rios in her house? "Excuse me," she said kindly, a confused expression on her face. "Aren't....you're in Hufflepuff, are you not?" Rose glanced down at the cuff, but it was now hidden from view. Perhaps she'd gotten it wrong. Oh, how embarrassing that would be! But she swore she recognized the girl from her common room!
Maddie had been heading back from the library, where she had been studying the last of her transfiguration notes ahead of the exams that were due to start very shortly. She was a little frazzled, her hair was scruffily tied back and her dress was terrible wrinkled from hours sitting on her knees within the stacks of transfiguration books pouring over her own notes and the books to add some additional hints and tips. It was not a way in which she would like very many people to see her.
She turned a corner and almost bumped headling into Mozelle and Rose, fellow Hufflepuffs, but a year or two below herself. "Oh!" she exclaimed, stopping short and swaying a little to prevent the pile of notes in her arms from flying. "Mozelle, you look rather perplexed, is everything alright?" she asked concern written over the petite blondes pretty features.
Her eyes flicked to the shifty way in which the other badger was trying to hide her cuff, and in that instance her mind flicked to the worst case scenario. She hadn't seen the gem, as Mozelle seemed to be taking great pains to hide it. She placed her notes on the ground and attempted to guide the other girl into one of the window seats that peppered the corridor. "Moz, is there anything you need to tell me?" her voice was soft and coaxing, if the girl had had a slip and had lost her virtue that was sad, if someone had taken it from her through more nefarious means- well that was worse yet.
"Rosalie...yes. Yes, I am a Hufflepuff," she said softly, as she hid the gem, trying to shove it up her sleeve until it caught on her arm. But then Madeleine caught the situation. "Everything's fine!" she tried to explain. "Dios mío, this is complicated..."
And then she was swept aside to a window seat. Glancing around nervously, she loosened the cuff, letting it fall back to her wrist, hidden from the view of those who might pass by. "It changed to green, Madeleine. Green! What could make it turn green?!" Nothing the third year knew of, that's for certain. "Mis padres me van a matar..." she muttered. They loved that she wasn't in the house of the serpents. To them, badgers were perhaps the strongest of the four Hogwarts crest animals. Even though they themselves were Beauxbatons alumni. They had wanted their daughter to attend Hogwarts.
And whenever they had another child, as they meant to, that child would attend Hogwarts, too, and would hopefully be a badger as well. Even Mozelle hoped her younger brother or sister would be a badger.
"I know you likely thought the worst...but this is just as embarrassing for a proud badger! Serpents are the badger's prey..."

Maddie was relieved when the other girl showed her the green and silver cuff, where it should have been black and yellow. Maddie, looked to Rose, and mouth some relieved words that the colour change was a clear accident and not a change related to either dishonesty, or a loss of virtue. Maddies class and personality were such that she was was keenly aware of the value of her own virtue and had ever intention of maintaining it until she was wed but she knew other girls were not so inclined- hence the introduction of these bracelets.
"It's alright Mozelle" she said trying to calm the girl, "This clearly isn't your fault Mozelle, you wouldn't have strong enough magic to over ride the colour charm placed on it by the school." as she talked of the embarrassment of seeming a slytherin, Maddie smiled. "I suppose someone has to be a slytherin" she said purposely making an ick face, being humorous to relax the younger student and make her feel better about the whole situation.
Mozelle shook her head, muttering in mingled Italian and Spanish as she twisted the cuff on her wrist nervously. "It's embarrassing all the same," she said softly. "Aren't there enough Slytherins sleeping in the Slytherin dorms?" It was confusing, and damning in her own mind. She was too proud a Hufflepuff to even consider being anything else.
"What do you think could have done it, Madeleine? Why is my cuff green?"

"It's all right," Maddie responded, trying to keep her tone light, "It's clearly a mistake, maybe one of the slytherins is playing a prank or something," she mused, it would take very strong magic to override the charms placed on the cuff by the teachers, it would have to be final year students, or perhaps Peeves had managed it somehow, it was beyond her 5th year knowledge and she was rather good at charms so it was almost certainly beyond the third years knowledge.
"Rosie, is your normal?" she asked, rolling up her sleeve to consult her own cuff, which still shown in its usual Hufflepuff black and yellow, from her wrist. She gave a small shrug "Mine seems to be fine."
Modesty's own bracelet was an offending yellow and black. Not that she had anything against the Hufflepuffs, but she was quiet positive she'd been in Slytherin for the past four, five, years.
She couldn't help but over hear the question and see the third years obviously wrong bracelet colour. "It was probably the Seventh Years. They always find some way to mess with everyone during the last few weeks before they graduate. " she grumbled in passing, not wanting to intrude more than she already managed.
Maddie looked up, as another voice broke into the circle of hufflepuffs, and she glances up to see a young woman who, although wearing a hufflepuff cuff, was not a member of their house and Maddie recognised her as a Slytherin girl in the year below herself. Maddie nodded thoughtfully as the girl spoke. "I think you might be right" she said musing, "Unless of course you've decided to change your loyalties." Maddie said with a smile at the other girl, a pleasant and joking smile in recognition of their house rivalries.
Maddie mused if the two girls should just switch bracelets and draw a line under the whole incident, she wasn't sure if it was a charm that when cancelled the two cuffs would return to their original colours, or if the charms would need to be reapplied to the bracelets to make them the original colours. "I'd perhaps tell your head of house that the cuff has changed." she said to both girls, pulling back her own sleeve to consult her own cuff for a change, it remained the original black and yellow that it had been every day since first form.
