Congratulations, it seems, are most certainly in order! I am pleased to hear that both he and you—I must assume—are in good health, and offer you the best wishes that I might possibly wonder on this exciting occasion! It is so good to witness our family expand, even if the child will bear you husband’s surname and not that of our late parents.

Please let me know as soon as you are feeling up to company, and I shall happily attend you both. Have you informed our brothers yourself, or did you wish for me to do so? Whichever you elect, I shall gladly respect your wishes.

I am well and over the worst I think, but should that not be the case, you may rest assured I have gone without any regrets.

I have yet to write to our brothers, but I think I shall do so myself or they may think I have forgotten them. Thank you for the offer.
