Roberto's family had been mildly divided over this entire affair. His mother thought it was simply wonderful, his father - whilst not purist - still wasn't too keen on buddying up with people who had tried to kill them all. Roberto was indifferent, at best, but on the side of optimism. At any rate, he wasn't about to miss such a prestigious event!

He had gotten an entirely new suit for the occasion and he was looking quite dapper. The night seemed to be going all right, so far. Young ladies were being presented to the Queen every now and then as were other notable people.

Roberto was quite happy to avoid that for now and so ended up near the champagne breathing dragon sculpture. He turned just in time to see someone get sprayed by the thing. And to think, they couldn't use magic to fix the problem. "Need a hand?" He inquired helpfully as he offered his handkerchief. It wasn't much but at least they would be a little less champagne-y.

Garrett was perhaps one of the few people in attendance who was pleased by the turn of events. Having come from a family that was inherently non-magical and spending most of his adult life involved in muggle/wizarding affairs, he had hoped to one day witness the two worlds reconcile during his lifetime, and after ten years - and over two Ministers later - he was gratified by Minister Urquart's efforts to do so. Even if the daily lives of magical folk was hardly going to change by renewed bonds between magic and the crown, it was still a significant milestone - perhaps one might even say, historic - for the wizarding world, and it was certainly something to celebrate.

Clad in a new formal suit for the occasion, Garrett had made the customary rounds of mingling with this person and paying his respects to that person. It was one of the first events that he and his wife - whom he was trying his best not to hover over, given her present condition; she might not have said it in so many words (Aurelia was too kind to be so blunt), but Garrett was astute enough to get the hint that he might be just a little too overprotective nowadays, and wanted to try and give her some space - attended since the shock (and grief) of poor Katherine's death, and while he doubted that the feeling of missing her would ever go away, they had to move forward. The Reconciliation Ball, in addition to allowing to their support, provided them with the perfect opportunity to reintegrate themselves in the social scene again, and besides, if there was anything Kate loved more than her plants, it was a good party, and it seemed like a positive nod to her memory to enjoy himself.

Which he seemed to be doing a fairly good job of, up until he'd gotten a little too close to the champagne dragon sculpture - for an event that prohibited the use of wands, he was a little surprised that they would choose an element of magic that was a bit... messy - and was sprayed quite thoroughly. Fortunately, his jacket was of a dark hue, so the mess wasn't terribly noticeable, though sadly, the same could be said for his white shirt. With a wand, he would have had the stains removed seconds, but of course, given the nature of the event, it had been taken by the Aurors upon arriving, and he didn't have anything else with which to clean it with. How does one remove champagne stains without magic...?

"Ah, thank you, sir," Garrett responded to the other gentleman, gratefully accepting the proffered handkerchief. He had been hoping that no one had seen the incident, but alas, it looked like he wouldn't be so lucky. "Better champagne than the alternative, perhaps?" He joked good-humoredly, dabbing at his damask vest. He supposed it could be a lot worse.

Roberto vaguely recognized the older man as someone from the Ministry. Sadly, he could not recall a solid name or even job position to go with the vague remembrance. Not that it really mattered, he supposed and he'd get the mans name in due time. Having had very little reason to deal with stains - that was what staff were paid to do - and having been raised in a magical household, Roberto was coming up short with non-magical suggestions.

To be quite honest, he felt a little vulnerable without his wand. He wasn't the sort to use magic for every little thing that came his way but he had not been without it since he had gotten it. Even so, he could see the probably need for their wands to be confiscated. Roberto knew enough of society to know that some purebloods were very much against any sort of association with the muggle side of the world.

He chuckled at the other mans jest. "Smoke and burns would be a little harder to get out, I must agree," he said in joking agreement.

"Quite," he agreed pleasantly, pausing to examine his handiwork. While the stains were still there - and would likely remain so throughout the evening - they at least weren't as noticeable from the beginning, thanks to his attire's dark coloring and the gentleman's (whom he vaguely recognized to be involved in Quidditch somehow) generous offer of his handkerchief. Besides, a champagne stain was hardly worth obsessing over.

Satisfied, he looked up at the other man, an appreciative smile on his face. "Thank you, Mr... Devine, is it?," he asked, a little uncertainly. He only knew of a few people who were involved in the magical sport, having little interest in the subject apart from a spectator's point-of-view, but he remembered Devine to have been a few years behind him in school and quite the Quidditch fanatic. Had he had the use of his wand, he would have magically cleaned the man's handkerchief out of generosity, but alas.

It was quite satisfying to find someone that wouldn't fuss overly long over the champagne mishap. He had a couple of friends that would have just left the party over such a small thing. Then again, it was also very rare that they attend any event that barred magic.

"Yes, that's me," he confirmed with a smile. He was used to being recognized in some manner, especially since becoming the Quidditch sponsor for the Kestrals some years ago. "I'm afraid you have me at a disservice. I'm pretty sure I recall you being a Ministry man but a name simply won't come to me. I hope I don't offend."
