Tristan was beyond psyched. He was first string and it only been a handful of months since he had begun his professional career. He had probably actually cackled when he had told his uncle but his enthusiasm had been dampened a little since Jac was a little clueless when it came to Quidditch unless it had to do with guessing which players were good in bed or something.

Tristan was out with some lads of his though and his spirits had immediately risen once again. This was a celebration and he was highly enjoying himself. They were walking down the street when one of his friends stumbled over some homeless dude and got hit with a stinging hex. Tristan laughed.

Jacob was going to die. Not at that exact moment, but eventually, and he had never been more aware of it than now. After turning twenty five (Merlin, even thinking it made him feel old as dust), he'd done everything he could think of to keep his mind off having to retire and becoming a proper adult. For that reason, he was currently out with a group of gentlemen far younger than himself trying to fit in.

Though he was sure he was invited as an afterthought, Jacob still jumped at the chance to tag along and enjoy a night of merriment. He'd knocked back a few drinks already, but not nearly enough to fully avoid the existential crisis he felt creeping up on his psyche. With mild interest, he watched as an unfortunate member of the party got struck with a stinging hex. There was a burst of laughter, but Jacob's voice was not among those who found the scene amusing. "Cherish your youth," he said somewhat bitterly. "It doesn't last."

Wait, wasn't he supposed to be having fun?
