I know I've no right to say anything so bold, but I must confess this before the clock strikes the new year. My life has not been one of joy, as yours was before your series of loss. I've lost more than I can even begin to explain. I simply hope, pray, that you can learn to accept me.

You have become the light in the darkness of my pitch-black life, and that is why I have spent much of the time we've been around one another less than clear-headed.

Please...at least hear me out.
