The Future is Already Planned

Brynn was not sure why Terell wanted to spend the afternoon with her, concidering that Clarissa was invited. He and Clarissa always spent their time together and they rarely invited her as well. Clarissa and Brynn usually started fighting after they spent more than ten minutes together, so it was just stupid to try to make them spend the whole afternoon together. That would end up being a catastrophe and as always, they would blame Brynn for starting an argument because it was always her fault, even if Clary was the one who made the nasty comments. She was definitely not excited.

Still, Brynn suspected that they wanted to tell her something important. They wouldn't ask her to join them if they didn't want to tell her something, right? Maybe Clarissa was pregnant, or maybe she and Mr de Montfault were planning to move to France. Brynn couldn't think of anything more important than that.

Dressed in a rather simple cream dress with green details, Brynn walked outside the Malfoy manor to find her siblings. She spent the entire morning trying to find a dress that Clary wouldn't concider too fancy or old for her age, which wasn't too simple or hideous either. Most of Brynn's dresses were made of bright and lavish fabrics, so finding her dress was not an easy task. Finally, the Slytherin decided to wear a dress she had brought during the summer a year ago but never got to wear.

"Terell, Clarissa." Brynn said politely as she found her siblings already seated in a comfortable table under a tree. Isolde was not there, which didn't surprise Brynn. Clary hated their sister-in-law, so she had surely asked Terell to get rid of his wife for their special afternoon.

Terell sighed a little, he was actually not looking forward to this day. Finally they had found someone to marry Brynn, and he had to tell her. Beside telling her about her new husband-to-be, he wondered how she would react with Clarissa there, but he needed the backup in case he didn't know what to tell her, he hoped Clarissa would think of something.

He sat in his chair, talking with Clarissa about her marriage life while they waited for Brynn to show up. When Brynn finally arrived and started walking towards them, he rose from his seat and with a simple gesture told her to sit down in his chair, he really would prefer to stand while telling her.

Without waiting any further he took a deep breath and prepared himself mentally for telling her this. "Brynn, I don't know how to tell you this, but I guess if I tell you straight out, that will make it easiest. Your future husband has been decided." He said, hoping she would react calmly, afterall she should have known that this day would come sooner or later.

Clarissa was surprised that Terell asked her to come over so quickly. He knew that Javert and she didnt go for the honeymoon just yet due to her new husbands work, however nobody dared to show up in their house or invite them for a party during weeks after their wedding as if people wanted them to be together alone the whole month. Did her brother start to miss her presence in his house? He was her best friend, someone with whom she understood without speaking.

They sit in Terells sitting room, sipping ice tea and talking idly about her new life. The young woman was glad that her sister-in-law was absent from their meeting: Clary didnt like her at all and she was content that Terell took it into consideration, when he planned this meeting. Clarissa couldnt tell that she wasnt happy. Javert still wasnt the man of her dreams, he wasnt a perfect partner for her, but he tried hard to please her. They didnt love each other, but simply maintained mutual respect. With Javert by her side Clarissa slowly started to discover ups and downs of marriage life.

With her sixth sense Clarissa felt that this idle chat was just a cover for bigger issue that her brother wanted to come up with. Was it about Isolde? Probably not, because then he would speak directly. Family, then. Was one of their parents ill? Finally, something in her face made her brother go straight to the point.

Brynns marriage! Terell found someone eager to marry her little sister. Clary wasnt very close to her, but right before her wedding, just after her arrival from the Trail, Clarissa wanted to recover her relationship with her younger sister. She asked her for standing beside her at her wedding, and now Terell wanted to marry her off. How cruel could it be? Clarissa frowned a little, when she heard about brothers plans, but she didnt say anything about that, curious how her sister will take those news.

Finally, the subject of their conversation arrived. Terell, being a gentleman and only man in the room, stood up asking Brynn to sit down on his seat. Clarissa welcomed her younger sister with a cheerful smile, which faded very quickly, making space for expression of concern. She was a little bit afraid that Brynn wont take those news well.
